Rajkumar involved in Aarushi's murder: CBI

Zeenews Bureau

Ghaziabad, June 28: In what appears to be a breakthrough in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case, the CBI on Saturday told a Ghaziabad court that Dr Anita Durrani's domestic help Rajkumar has confessed to his involvement in the crime.

CBI officials told the Duty Magistrate at the Ghaziabad court that Rajkumar had confessed to switching off and destroying Aarushi's mobile. Further, he has agreed to help the investigating agency in recovering Hemraj's mobile and the weapon used to commit the twin murders.

The court has, meanwhile, sent Rajkumar to 14-day CBI remand. While producing Rajkumar before the court, the agency had asked for a 15-day remand.

The CBI had arrested Rajkumar yesterday after discovering human blood on one of his T-shirts that had been washed. Forensic examination confirmed the T-shirt contained traces of human blood.

CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar informed the media that the T-shirt was seized from Rajkumar's house on June 13. The agency had questioned Rajkumar several times before placing him under arrest.

The CBI investigations focused on Rajkumar after Krishna, compounder of Dr Rajesh Talwar (already in judicial custody), said during a NARCO-test that Rajkumar was "after" Aarushi, official sources said.

It was immediately decided to place Rajkumar under arrest to enable the CBI to carryout his custodial interrogation, sources said.

The CBI was also looking for any other substantial evidence which came in the way of forensic expert's opinion on his "washed T-shirt".

The CBI Joint Director said Rajkumar had been subjected to polygraphy (lie) detection test on June 14 in Forensic Laboratory at the CBI headquarters which was followed by another similar test, psychological assessment, brain mapping and NARCO analysis.

The tests were conducted from June 23 to June 26 at Forensic Sciences Laboratory at Gandhinagar.

Kumar said the T-shirt had been sent to the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) for further forensic tests.

Asked whether the blood traces found on Rajkumar's T-shirt were matching either with Aarushi or domestic help Hemraj, he said, "For this purpose only, the apparel has been sent to Hyderabad."

Rajkumar is the second person whose arrest has been effected by the CBI after the agency took over the probe on June 1. Noida police had earlier arrested Aarushi's father Dr Rajesh Talwar, a dentist, on May 23.

Reacting to Rajkumar's arrest, his employer Praful Durrani said the blood stains could be due to boils on the domestic help's body.

Both Aarushi and Hemraj were found dead at their house in Sector 25 of Noida.

First Talwar, then Krishna and now Raj Kumar all confessed killing Aarushi n Hemraj... so who is the real killer here??? 😕😕

okay this is so confusing. i haven't read the whole 27 pages so maybe the answer is somewhere in there. BUT, first they said that the father killed them b/c he was having an affair with someone and both his daughter and servant knew about it. and that the father confessed to killing them b/c he said that the servant and his daugher had an inappropriate relationship.

so was that all fabricated or did the father in fact confess to teh killings?

'I destroyed Aarushi's mobile'
29 Jun 2008, 0519 hrs IST, Lalit Kumar,TNN

GHAZIABAD: Raj Kumar, the domestic help of the Duranis who was arrested on Friday in the Aarushi Talwar murder case, has confessed his "involvement" in the crime and that he destroyed Aarushi's mobile phone.

While the CBI did not officially announce this, it has been mentioned by the agency in the case diary which was quoted in the order of the special CBI magistrate who remanded Raj Kumar in CBI's custody for 14 days on Saturday.

Whether this can be described as a major breakthrough is still in the realm of speculation because Raj Kumar claimed in court on Saturday that he was innocent. The CBI counsel, in turn, claimed that Raj Kumar was not coming out with the full truth.

According to the case diary, quoted in the order of the special CBI magistrate, Raj Kumar confessed to having broken Aarushi's mobile phone and hidden the broken parts somewhere.

The confession will reinforce speculation that there were some incriminating shots of the crime scene or of the Talwar household - taken days before the murder that were stored in the phone and could have been the reason for the killings - that necessitated its destruction.

In addition, Raj Kumar's 'confession' that he picked up Aarushi's phone from the crime scene has led to questions about whether his act was part of a larger conspiracy. In that case, it is intriguing why he is not divulging the names of the other conspirators and is facing the music alone.

Earlier, with no lawyer to represent him, the boyish Raj Kumar told the special CBI magistrate, Ghaziabad, Sapna Mishra, "I am innocent." To the magistrate's query whether he should be remanded to the custody of the CBI, a moist-eyed Raj Kumar merely said, "Aap jaise chahen kar sakti hain (You can do whatever you like)."

The CBI's lawyers told the magistrate that Raj Kumar had confessed to picking up Aarushi's phone from the scene of the crime. They said he also "confessed that he had broken the phone and then hidden it somewhere". According to the lawyer, he could lead the CBI to where it was hidden.

"He also said he could help recover the weapon, the clothes worn at the time and other things connected with the crime," it was stated in court. However, the CBI had, when pleading for the remand of Dr Rajesh Talwar's compounder Krishna on June 17, similarly said that Krishna had volunteered to lead the investigators to the murder weapon and missing phones.

The killer/s hurt Aarushi and Hemraj once. The Media, the inept Noida and U.P. Police and the C.B.I. have been killing them over and over and over again since that fateful night on May 15th, 2008.

These " so called confessions " are not admissible as evidence in the court of law.

the police/CBI etc everytime while arresting an accused and while asking for their remand always say they have confessed, but "these confessions" are never really real confessions.

that is just their way of getting an accused person's remand.

rajkumar does not even have a defence lawyer because his family is not in noida.

shefali_123ji this is really amazing and sadly amusing. Is the Judge that keeps granting the remand a total space cadet to accept this half baked nonsence that the C.B.I. routinely serves up?

I have been trying to figure out why Rajkumar was smiling as he left the court? Is he unaware of what is in store for him in the C.B.I. custody or was he drugged with some happy juice?

^^ the judge is not only accepting these " so called confessions" , though they are not admissible as evidence when the actual trial begins but also quoting " these confessions" in the order while giving remand to the CBI/ noida police.

the judge even accepted the argument of the prosecution lawyer that Dr talwar used past tense while refering to hemraj in the FIR, so he was aware that hemraj is dead, how lame is that?? 😆

rajkumar was smiling because he told the judge that " i have no problem if u give my remand because i know i am innocent."

but I have observed that in almost all cases( not only this) the CBI/police regularly say the accused has confessed to his involvement, this is a very routine argument. These confessions are sometimes written by the investigating agency themselves depending on what they want to charge the accused with ultimately.😛😆 no wonder the conviction rates in India are so low with these kinds of investigating officers and investigating techniques.

Children's Parliament stands up for Aarushi

VARANASI: Although nearly every angle of the Aarushi Talwar case has been thoroughly interpreted and exploited, there is still one voice that wasn't deservedly heard.

This is the voice of children, as Aarushi herself was only a 14-year-old child. Angered by the disrespect sprayed on the murder victim by the police, media, and the general public, members of the Children's assembly and parliament demanded that Aarushi get her due respect during the children's first ever meeting held at Lallapura on Sunday.

Kya aap log sehmat hain? (Does everyone agree?) shouted Tazim Ali, the nine-year-old children's parliament leader of Varanasi after the Arushi matter was proposed. The children decided that children from all over the country should refer to Aarushi as 'didi', and requested that people nationwide put an end to any negative talk about the child. The other assembled children shouted out that they did indeed agree to this proposal.

Less than three weeks ago, around 1,000 children from around the city between the ages of 5-13 turned up to vote for the first ever Children's assembly and parliament, organised by social service group Vishal Bharat Shansthan (VBS). A large fraction of these children root from extremely poor and unfortunate backgrounds, but choosing their own leaders amongst themselves has served as a platform for them to voice themselves and as a medium to connect the world of children to the adult government system.

The first meeting was sprinkled with patriotic fervour, which included the singing of the national anthem and a regular chorus of 'Jai Hinds' by the dozens of children who had gathered at the small VBS school in Lallapura.
Tazim watched over the proceedings along with the three other elected children of the assembly Rashid Ansari (middle Banaras), Ili (Varuna side), and Pritam Sonkar (Assi side).

Their third and perhaps most important proposal was to bring focus on the Banarasi children missing for the past three years. According to VBS founder Rajiv Srivastava, there are currently eight children on the missing list since 2005 who are yet to be found. Amongst them is Md Shaquille, who has been missing since 2005 when he was only 10. Shaquille's father and brother also attended the meeting on Sunday.

The children's parliament decided that they would send a letter to the chief minister as well as the prime minister over the next few days to convey the problems of Shaquille and other missing children.

The election system and administration of the children, although unofficial, is a carbon copy of the actual system followed by the country's leaders. But there was one glaring difference in the parliament meeting, the children here were more disciplined! Each proposal was brought up and discussed diplomatically. Instead of children using the adult politicians as role models, the adults instead could watch and learn from these youngsters how to conduct parliament meetings without chaos.

The other proposals presented by the children included asking school systems to put further emphasis on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose as the country's ideal leader. Assembly member Ili (8), who also works as a garbage-picker, brought up the matter of adults in the streets abusing and sometimes hitting children in her situation. Srivastava said that this matter shall be brought into public awareness so that poor working children could live in a safe environment.

Aarushi murder case: Krishna's bail plea rejected

New Delhi, June 30: The bail plea of Krishna, compounder of Dr Rajesh Talwar and an accused in the Noida double murder, was on Monday rejected by a Ghaziabad court while a petition is likely to be filed in the Allahabad High Court soon seeking the release of the dentist from judicial custody.

Special Magistrate Sapna Mishra rejected the petition of Krishna, saying the court was not empowered to take a decision on his bail.

"We have submitted before the court that Krishna was arrested under some false charges and hence he should be released. But the court said that it was not empowered to grant bail," Krishna's lawyer Fateh Chand Sharma said.

He said they were exploring other options, including moving to the District and Sessions Court, for his release.

Meanwhile, a petition is likely to be moved in the Allahabad High Court soon seeking release of Rajesh Talwar from judicial custody as his bail application was rejected by Ghaziabad District and Sessions Judge Narender Kumar Jain on June 26.

"We are contemplating to move the High Court," Talwar's counsel Satish Tamta said.

The CBI probe into the double murder is still going on though the investigating agency arrested a third person, Raj Kumar, domestic help of Talwar's family friend Durranis, on Friday.

The agency had claimed that Raj Kumar confessed that he had broken and subsequently hidden the mobile phone of Aarushi and can also get the 'khukri' used in the crime recovered.
