What made matters more interesting that night on the dinner table was another French gentleman who replied to the Englishman that his spiritual Guru, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar who propagates the art of living recommends use of fingers to eat food as it helps in better digestion etc.

Concur with the part highlighted in blue.

haha, trust the french to disagree with the english😆

actually, i am all for people finding ways to digest their food. 😛 😆as long as their funky unsavory methods do not intefere with mine😉😆

Did you read the post correctly?? Did the poster mentioned his/ her personal opinion?? its a very generic post Quote from original post " It is said that" ting ting... I see no need to explain how much of an Indian I am, but whatever is mentioned is the truth...for minority exactly minority but it is. Being an Indian, Yes! I can say for sure civic codes are not understood or enforced in home country, reason of some actions that are not acceptable in globalized world or even in home country, must be lucky to never face it😃Not one but there are several instances to support my point.

"how can u critisize them. they dont knw the code of conduct only.and in india so much poppulation that the queues r so long that people do get tired and that too in heat (indian heat ) so some times people do get frustrated. if u have all the amenities and luxuries then y would u do such things? like if 2 or 3 people r there in a line y would u break it?"

No one is critizing here,if u make statement that indians lack civic code the first impression wil be that its criticism but if it not then am sorry i take my words back. trying to get to root cause and target whats wrong for remedician/awareness. Example you brought up, sorry but that NO EXCUSE, for actions. There are frustratng situations, instances etc etc independant of populations, where queues are big but still civic code is followed. Wonder with such lame just hate this word excuses of wrong actions are we promoting jungle rule😛 not standing in a queue will make the country a jungle? wonder how?

*Edit made to highlight quote.

rest i dont have time right now to explain.will come back later.

Indians are termed as inconsiderate based on facts observed, on day to day scenarios (eg: https://www.boloji.com/opinion/0238.htm )

Reason?

A. Lack Etiquettes/Ethics/Moral OR B.understanding/awareness of CIVIC CODES

Still have a problem?😕 How about, some inconsiderate Indians (you can't deny that) exists, why?

wht abt throwing away plastic bottles while visiting other country?wht abt littering away all the garbage on beaches and anywhere u go? they come under civic code? i have seen many foreighners doing that. dont people have anything else than to conduct surveys and put india in the last position?they even misbehave have heard many instances of cricketers misbehaving with people and others too.i think breaking a queue is a minor thing compared to this. people who themselves dont knw wht civic code is how can they teach others?

these all thing abt useing knives and forks to eat and all these r not part of our culture and we should not be expected to learn all this. li hollywood people feel amazed that we have songs in our films and i remm when i was small i used to feel so weird that english films dont have song i used to think how boring it will be with no songs at all.
so westerners should basically accept that all r diff and if some one dosent knw abt u then that does not mean they r inferior. and wht ever they do is not always right.

Whats the point here?😕 Is this how you are justifying actions by people mentioned in this post? Whatever instances you mentioned above, actions of foreign nationals is not justified, there is never been doubt such things are not right. Won't even say minority or majority its a problem alrigh. Why didn't you try to understand, being from civic code adhering countries, why such actions from foreign nationals? as you backed queue brokers in India before "out of frustration thing", populations, education etc. Coz, why do one care, they are not Indians. Right? Same reason Indians was mentioned in the post...inconsiderate actions in India or by Indians is most commonly faced problems and that too large scale even if we say minority. All this post is focusing is WHY such actions, whats the reasons? its surely not dependant on individuality, problem is at the level of society/culture/norms/law enforcement - country.

Request you to focus on

Reasons?

A. Lack Etiquettes/Ethics/Moral OR B.understanding/awareness of CIVIC CODES

rather then tangents...Thanks!

@Raj, on your point on reasons -
Breaking Queues - Bus/ Trains system in Mumbai being reference point - Unlike in other countries, in Mumbai, thanks to traffic and well, not very highly developed infrastructure, if one were to wait in a queue to board a bus, there is never a guarantee when the next one will come along. Sometimes, 15 minutes does matter on the muster.

Its not as if this reason is enough to condone the act, but I believe that for enforcement of civic codes, the proper infrastructure necessary to ensure its implementation should also be in force.

Take a crowded street in Mumbai, if people stood one behind the other in a straight line, without bumping into the person ahead, the bus lines would extend from one bus stop to the next.

Take the trains, now, with increased numbers of rakes and trains, the earlier mad scramble for the trains is reducing. But until we have enough number of trains and rakes to carry passengers in reasonable comfort, the "adherence" to civic code to maintain line and decorum will be somewhat a problem. As I perceive it, the problem is not merely the lack of civic code, but the lack of proper facilities in its implementation too. As I say, blame the politicians and the Government for it 😃

Garbage on roads - Poverty levels being what they are, garbage bins are stolen before they are installed. If installed, they are overflowing. If I do wish to dispose off something in a trash can, there is no place for it. It helps not that the stray dog comes sniffing at the can and in the process overturns it spilling the entire garbage on the street. And who gets blamed?? The average Indian - no one notices the street dog who was the real mischief monger in this case. But then again, the dog is Indian 😊

For every "problem" one finds with India, there is a reason and today, we are working on them and the day is not far when we can shrug off the tag so easily given, without delving into the reasons. But then, those who give such tags will find something else to harp upon. 😛

Now thats what I call IF an educative and fun place, very nice point Priya, BTW welcome back.. hope the vacation was great!!

@mumbai very fair. My Point! if infrastructure is improved without individuals respecting each other, and awareness/enforcement of civic code do you situation will improve? Imagine same actions observed by bandhu's availing best of infrastructure.

Its not as if this reason is enough to condone the act, but I believe that for enforcement of civic codes, the proper infrastructure necessary to ensure its implementation should also be in force.

Again with proper infrastructure will our basic codes / ethics inculcated by cultural upbring help change the atitude?

Take a crowded street in Mumbai, if people stood one behind the other in a straight line, without bumping into the person ahead, the bus lines would extend from one bus stop to the next.

In this case everyone is facing this problem why some indulge in dhakka dhaki and some not, irrespective of literacy aspect.

well I sought of agree...what can politician do, they are talkign on tangents then focus on real problem.. why? 😕

Dog vs a humans😃 bring a trained dog on Indian street and watch what happen... ok dog is dog.. but again... can we say poverty struck are more viable to break ethics / civic code vs middle class?? I say no..😃
