Does anyone remember an episode of ELR when Frank & Marie have an argument?

Marie says: I have a mind of my own you know! I can contribute! I'm not just some... trophy wife!"

Frank replies" "You're a trophy wife? What contest in hell did I win?"😆

I just remembered! 🤣

ok i agree they dnt have choice but thats the case with women also they also dnt have choice till now they have to do house hold work. but now men have option in the form of an earning wife to share their responsibility.

as i said earlier these rules have been made by society since cave man days so it cnt change so fast.but i still have seen men who dnt work their wives work and then also they dominate their wives.so if u tell me to symphatise with them for not having an option so i wont be able to do that.they get a lot of previledges so a bit of responsibility they sld take.

Hey !! I do see the point you are making. Believe it or not, I have seen such men in my husband's side of the family. "Losers" is what I call them. But it pains me that women allow such degradation of themselves and seemingly ENJOY it.
The JOB of this particular wife is to be a DOLL ... 🤢
Yeah, then it is a thankless job and it deserves to be imho! Why would someone with dignity and esteem AGREE to such an arrangment?

ya i oppose this also women are not dolls or decorative pieces who sld always look good at home or even office.they sld look presentable for themselves.

Better then men watching NHL and drinking coke as Tania mentioned..!!!! We beat men at their own game... 😆 Voila....

Seriously, I feel that men in general are not good at running a household, maid or no maid hence by default they do not get the job assignment..😉 Even if men stayed at home and wife went out to work , she would be making shopping lists and worried about children etc so it is universally accepted as defecto that men should go out to work while women can do both..😉

Working 9-5 for living is so overrated, I am sure most ppl would like to do something other then what they are doing now given the choice.

Maya I had started similar topic some time ago. It was about one my friend who works full time and his husband is full time stay at home dad. He is great dad and loves to be home with kids. It's mutual decision of couple. Ofcourse, they are not Indian couple.

That's really good question. If his women is ok with him staying and taking care of home chores and her wearing pants of the house, I think it's great..he "should" have a choice to be just. I have seen couple familes where men do have choice, however, none are indian families.

After this topic i feel lucky to be a Indian women who have option open to work, not to work, stay at home do nothing, go out and work whtever i want to 😉 😆

agree vineet...who said it's male dominating society 😉 😆

Missed this train, had so much say😃

Read last 6-7 pages most of it discussed, thanks for waking soul of this post, as I was thinking of posting a similar topic.

Isn't it hypocrisy and discrimination when we say that men do not have choices because stay at home dads would be unacceptable to society? On one hand we argue that today's women is career oriented, liberated….and then we still argue for the same set norms for men.

👏👏 It sure is, ABSOLUTELY!

On one hand we talk about equality and non biasing on gender on other, guy sitting at home for whatever reason is considered as an 🤢.

Believe in equality of roles and responsibilities for pillars of household, gender unbiased. Whats wrong in men helping out women in households, irrespective of spouse working or not. Havn't got to that stage (M) but whatever I have seen and experienced if guy cooks, or say , baby sits at home while spouse is gone for work, or does dishes, is considered feminine traits and 🤢. Why? Can this be termed as Double standards of the society?

Will contribute more if this posts goes along.

I am going to sound a bit sexist now, but I will take the risk 😳.
It is actually majority women who want their husband to HELP at HOME, yet be a super-successful guy outside.
You nicely said double standards of SOCIETY😳. That society in majority may include women I fear.
"her husband does nothing, did you know that she is the only earning person?" ..
"ohno..really?? hmm.. did he get fired? "
"does he really have the degrees she said he does? "
"what!!.. you know... i would not like that, so un-manly!"
" Is he not getting hired?"
All the above may actually happen. Whereas, if a guy friend of men is at-home dad, I wonder how men would react 😛. I can't say. Probably they'll understand how important Golf and ESPN is and look at him as a hero? 😆😆 .. kidding.. They may not be willing to do the same, but they may / may not judge the other man.

The way we (asian women) grow up, most of us expect our man to work, atleast for namesake. Money doesn't matter. But I would be a hypocrite / liar if I denied that I would like my husband to work.
I truly will not gossip about another home-maker dad, but won't appreciate mine doing that (barring health-related / genuine difficulties) . he should atleast day- trade 😆😆 if nothing and register a company on-line and call himself an enterprenuer 😉..
