Jealousy!!!

Jealousy typically refers to the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that occur when a person believes a valued relationship is being threatened by a rival. The word jealousy stems from the French jalousie, formed from jaloux (jealous), and further from Low Latin zelosus (full of zeal), and from the Greek word for "ardour, zeal" (with a root connoting "to boil, ferment"; or "yeast").

Jealousy is a familiar experience in human relationships. It has been reported in every culture and in many forms where researchers have looked. It has been observed in infants as young as 5-6 months old and in adults over 65 years old.

It has been an enduring topic of interest for scientists, artists, and theologians. Psychologists have proposed several models of the processes underlying jealousy and have identified individual differences that influence the expression of jealousy. Sociologists have demonstrated that cultural beliefs and values play an important role in determining what triggers jealousy and what constitutes socially acceptable expressions of jealousy. Biologists have identified factors that may unconsciously influence the expression of jealousy. Artists have explored the theme of jealousy in photographs, paintings, movies, songs, plays, poems, and books. Theologians have offered religious views of jealousy based on the scriptures of their respective faiths. Despite its familiarity, however, people define jealousy in different ways. Some even mislabel it as being protective of something or someone, when the fact is, it's really simply possessive jealousy itself; and many feel they don't possess effective strategies for coping with this form of jealousy.

Okay! One of my mate's parents specially the Mother, dont get along wid her sister! (Both d sisters r married) I mean the sister just bought a new house & instead of being Happy the mother is so so so annoyed & pissed off! Reason? Well, her sister bought a house & she is not happy wid d fact that they live happily!

Sometimes, its okay! I mean its obvious that u wil b jealous for some reasons but not all the time! This mother of my mate is alwayz back of her sister! I feel so sorry for the sister! The sister aint evil at all! She is so naive! Bless her!

Its quite strange! Isnt it?😕 I mean u shud b happy that ur sister is settled and having no problems! Well, i just wanted to ask u all ppl dat y do ppl b jealous?? Is it coz they cant see others happy or is it coz dey feel so small dat dey cant face d world?

Its a nice topic, Anoli. It is a human nature to be jealous. There are different reasons for jealousy: Financial, emotional, lack of something in anyone's life or insecurity. Short term jealousy is understandable, but if it goes on thoughout your life time, it means there is a serious problem in your behaviour or upbringing. Sometimes when all of a sudden any tragedy happen in an individual's life, jealously with your loved one's is very normal but once that tragic moments are passed, jealousy also fades away.
Why do you care what is happening in someone unknown's life thousand miles away??? You only care if something good or bad happen in your Sisters/Brothers/Sister in laws/brother in laws, friends or neighbour because COMPARING is a human nature too. If your sister bought a house or won a lottery, its a natural reaction in my body that how come all of a sudden she has everything and I work harder than her and I cannot afford all the luxuries of life.
I have one person in my family too, who I used to be BEST FRIEND in my high school days. But since we got married in the same family, comparisons on Finances, socialising and Career started clicking in. It got worse after my Husband passed away. In stead of giving me her helping hand, she always give me her envious looks and she always planned so many things against me to put me down financially, socially and in my relationships with my family but that woman's every effort to put me down failed badly. You know why??? Because she always thought: I am the best, my kids are the best, my husband is the best blah blah blah. Our whole family gets annoyed with her "MISS PERFECT ATTITUDE". Now this woman still is jealous because I raised my three kids with good SANSKAARS and my kids and myself are doing better than her family. I worked with my full honesty and I was never jealous of anything anybody has more than me. I careless, if my coworker or my friend is a millinaire. I never tried to copy her or anyone else. I can proudly say that with GRACE OF GOD, I have a respectable job and healthy family.
I must say this: Until you have "I AM BETTER THAN OTHER PERSON" EGO, you will always be jealous and jealousy only burns you, not the person you are jealous from.

Anoli, you have different type of EGO which let you prove yourself what you are. I think its OK to be aggressive for positive reasons. I am talking about EGO that ruins your innerself that doesn't let you appreciate any good qualities in your family, friends, neighbours, coworkers etc. There are so many people out there who only speak loud about themselves and their kids and never let other person show their acheivements. This person, whose example I was giving above, after so many years of self appreciations: Her son is 21 years old and he hust went to College this year and not even attending College regulary and this woman herself took 7 years to get a Licence that I got years ago in 5 months. Jealousy never let her relax and enjoy whatever she had in her life. Now, no body is friendly to her because pf whatever she had done all her life, she cries in front of people just to get some attention. I call it negative attention becuase when family and friends gave her attention, she misused it and she is wandering around and looking for people's sympathy.

Nice topic Anoli. All I can say jealousy happens to everyone interms of finance, insecurity, sociable or lack of something as Neelam said. I mean I also have ego and altitude 😳. Like when someone calls me a looser I also can't tolerate and gets the person in anyway, I just wanted to show them and prove I am not as what I said. I don't know how i can stop jealousy but i also think it's common in human beings.

I don't compare a lot with other people because I am proud of what I am and I have. 😃

Jealous is an emotional based on fear of loosing what one has to another,especially someone's love or affection.Its an envy,apprehension,bitterness and probably a host of other related emotions.

Jealousy is a destructive emotion and implies posession.

Jealosy is a negative emotion in human being,that cant be stopped or cured.

By the way,I guess women are most affected with this type of emotion......Is it right? 😕

Yes, you are right, women has more jealousy compare to men for their family members, friends or relatives. Women will do anything to show that she is higher than other person. Somewoman will try to copy same profession, home, clothing style, life style etc to show that they are not equal to other but superior to others.

Its not hard to get out of jealously complex. We should look at our Glass as half full not half empty and cry over why my class is half empty and other person had more. By doing this, we don't even enjoy what we have. Life is very short. We should enjoy every moment of our life with our loved ones before it is too late. I never cry anymore, over small things likejealousy or cheating by other people.Those people are not worth my tears. I am very satisfied with my life because If I cannot do any good to other people, at least I don't do any harm to them either.
