The reservation prevails in AIIMS as well!

Ibnbatuta no, not all muslims are equal, idk what's the criteria in reserving seats for only a small no. of Muslims and Sikhs but yes seats are reserved for muslims as well.

There should be quota system in their personal security guards and secretaries advising them and may be in our national cricket team and while appointing Chiefs of army, navy and airforce too. 😆

Besides the national quotas there are colleges run by religious groups that have reservation for their own candidates eg- Christian medical college vellore and also Ludhiana, Aligarh Muslim University- for muslim students , Hamdard college, also similar for Sikhs, Jain, Sindhis yada yada.. but surprisingly no such reservation in Benaras Hindu University. I wonder why 😕 In addition some states have reservation for students from their own state while not so in all states. Some students are clearly at a great disadvantage due to all these complex quota systems with different norms in different regions.

It would be so much better to have a uniform system of exams and selection all over the country. I wish the govt would think of abolishing the quota system on the basis of caste and think of some real solution to the problem instead.

Will Hardik Patel and co actually succeed in getting home the point?

These Patels seem to have a lot of clout in Gujarat though.

Leuva Patels and Kadva Patels call themselves descendants of Luv and Kush respectively.

Patels felt marginalised inside the Congress party and many of them had migrated to BJP. The Congress hardly missed them because its KHAM (Kshatriya, Harijan, Adivasi, Muslim) social combination had brought it a record-breaking 148 seats in the February 1985 assembly elections. Within weeks a violent anti-reservation agitation had transformed into Hindu-Muslim communal riots.

Solanki had to go: his formidable majority in the assembly was of no help, for the Patels controlled the streets. This was also the beginning of BJP's ascent in Gujarat.

Since then no government has messed around - with the Patels:

Sardar Vallabhai Patel was a Leuva. Kdva Patels hang on to Sardar Patel legacy and the Leuvas hate this.

Kadva Patidar sub-caste is found most in districts of saurashtra region like Rajkot,Junagadh,Jamnagar and Bhavnagar.Kadva Patel are well know for this business acumen these days and dominate major industries in gujarat till date while the Leuva Patidar sub-caste are mainly found in the Charotar Region (which is known also known as Charotar Leuva Patidars) (Kheda, Anand), Mehsana, Kanam (Vadodara, Bharuch, Panchmahal), South Gujarat and Saurastra region.

The word "Patel" derives from "Patidar," meaning "the holder of Pati or Patta."

Thats a lot of information Ibnbatuta 😛

Shouldn't the ministers also be subject to the same restriction as other govt employees? They should have to seek clearnce from a govt hospital saying that the facility for treating their condition does not exist in the country and only then be permitted to go abroad for treatment at tax payers expense.

Yes and even if they go to hospitals like AIIMS, they make sure a merit candidate doctor treats them not the quota party.

That's the limit

English media was calling this guy 22 yr old Patel. They can't say Hardik obviously. 😆
Seems like Hardik party has sinister motives. Already there is a counter movement there of some Thakores who are calling for all the SC,ST, OBC and Muslim quota party to gather under one banner. Looks like another polarisation attempt.

Yes, indeed. SC judge Altamas Kabir scrapped the National Eligibility cum-Entrance Test for admission to MBBS, BDS and post-graduate courses in medical and dental colleges.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan alleged in an interview that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test -NEET- judgement was leaked from the chambers of ex-Chief Justice of India (CJI) Altamas Kabir to private medical colleges.

Altamas Kabir said that the NEET test had the effect of depriving the States, state-run universities and all medical colleges and institutions, including those enjoying the constitutional protection, of their right to admit students to MBBS, BDS and postgraduate courses as per their own procedures, beliefs and dispensations.

So not only we have the quota party doctors but also the 85 lakh donation party. 😆

So according to AK it was more important for institutions to have a right to admit students they wished than the students to have a right to seek admission on merit 😉 The students are caught between the quota system in the govt run colleges and the pvt institutions "right" to admit whom they wish.

That sounds inflated but at least that money stays in the country unlike those who go off to study abroad.Thats brain drain ans well as financial drain for the country. As long as the pvt colleges provide their money's worth I think it is still a viable option at least for those who can afford the huge fees and the rest.
