They can't be justified in name of creative freedom. Ads are for public and hence need to be made responsibly.
Even if you leave the colour, still the child is portrayed as a slave here which is gross.

Already agreed with the child slavery thing, but not with the colour bit. It is how you see it.

I am absolutely against racism, but much like pseudo feminism that is rampant among the elite, I am not okay with pseudo racism either.

I think they wanted to show the boy as a mere servant..obviously queens or mistresses were more beautiful than their servants or maids. So the boy was made gloomy to highlight her beauty more..
people make controversies out of everything todays. If the ad was plotted on ancient India then it'll surely portray some culture of that time!

I think people also fail to realize that child servitude and racism do go hand in hand. Look at imagery of child servants throughout history. Very rarely will you see white children in such a position. Such imagery is rooted in the history of colonial rulers exploiting the colonies. I agree that both child labor and racism should be addressed. But I don't think the racial aspect should be dismissed.

Even today look where child labor is concentrated - it is in sweatshops of Asia, Africa and Latin America. You don't see white people exploiting kids in their country to stitch their jeans.

What's the use of PR and managers if these actors don't know what and how they're endorsing a product.

I really hope you made this comparison because you are uneducated about the subject. White people weren't slaved for 600 years, they weren't treated badly and put down because of their skin color, the fact that you comparing a white soldier holding an umbrella for the president of the United states to a young black kid holding an umbrella for some "fair" woman is ridiculous.

^ Yeah Sanjay Gupta, When something goes wrong, not Artist/Model 's hand, but if its appreciated, its all because of Artist/Model !!!
Aish should take responsibility here and condemn this ad rather than just saying she didn't know / its not her business how they use her pic !

No it is not ridiculous. We do not have that mindset anymore. If anyone does, it is worth condemning. I do not have that mindset and I don't see nothing wrong with that picture. We are in the modern world where whites carry umbrellas for blacks too, that slavery is a thing of the past. That's why skin colour for me is a non-issue. I don't know about you.

Ash should apologize, just saying she wasn't aware makes her look insensitive and callous and the brand needs to be reprimanded heavily.
