I thorougly disagree with this concept. The goverment triggered this off in the wake of many rapes that have occured in delhi & the one that happened in mumbai. Does wearing clothes that reveal a little skin motivate men to rape ? Definitely not . The girl who was raped by the cop in mumbai was pretty much in normal dress . What does this infer , the law and order machinery is weak . People are uneducated , orthodox & lack respect for women. Infact even educated people are raping women , why ? cuz they know they can get away wid it with almost no punishment in most cases.

The goverment should rather concentrate on educating the masses & preventing such scnearious rather than implementing dress codes.

I agree with you!! Dress doesn't matter!! Even little kids and old women are raped!! It is not about the clothes!!

ok i agree that rapist if they want to rape its nothing to do with clothes, but still to wear short skirts in lots of cities in india is not fun experience trust me!! i used to wear shorts/minis in india during college and it was jsut aweful..you get such nasty comments and people try to touch you and its disgusting... being in college its matured and its better not to call uninvited people around you and dress sensibly... however, for school girls idont think its healthy to have such experience...its very distrubing and personally i really dont like those things to remember even at this stage of my life when i remember those days..i am like awe 😡

Ill narrate you a small incident. One of my frnds was a production
assistant for a music video & since the location was pretty close
to where im put up he called me for the shoot. Now who wouldnt want to
see beautiful girls in a bikini comming out of a swimming pool
& then gyrating vulgarly to the music (public demand as they say)
. So there i was 😃 there
were a few indian girls & a few firang girls . And they came out of
their rooms in robes & everything was pretty quiet. They started
the shoot ..wid some falthu punjabi song playing in the background. I
was sitting behind the camera screen . & came up for a closer look
. The thing got over in a matter of an hour & the girls came out of
the pool in their bikinis , & then the comments started
comming from some of the unit members including the ugly director which
were pretty audible to everyone & one could see the sense of
embarrasment on the girls faces till they walked back to their room. I
was disgusted & walked out. My frnd later on told me that this was
not anything new such things happened regularly.

Indians are more skin crazed than any other race , particulary becuase
we lack any real adult entertainment . I would like to emphasize on
this point further but i feel this isnt quite the right place as there
are quite a few very young people here.

ok I know we are little off topic here from dress code in school, but couple of things for you..first of all boys does not have "janamsidh haq" at such vulgur comments, they have made it seem their haq...and you are right indians seems to get more obsessed with seeing girls in small skirts or skin as you said...thats the reason I am in favor of dress code in indian school and not in US... in US (its just 'coz thats the culture apart from india which i have seen closely) you dont see people staring at you if you are in bikin or tang tops or micro minis or so... (accept some indians who still are so possesive seeing indian girl in these clothes)...so i think its ok to wear whatever in such countries if you please.....I just think why to be in a situation that makes u uncomfortable and not pleasant... in india you see variety of crowd..you said you never crossed ur limit, but there are plp you does cross their limit as well... school girls should not be the target is what i meant.... in school girls are really innocent and any dirty comments are just not what they deserve... some plp are in favor of fighting or why care about others and you should wear whatever you want to and not care about what other say.... and i respect everyone's openion...its just my openion that i would change my dressing if that's not that place is good for... if you go in dubai or some middle easter country you are not suppose to wear anything below knees and its not advisable and same goes to some most parts of india as well... the thing about US i like the best is.. they really dont care what you dress like. Our paretns come here they wear sari in mall or in waterpark and they wont look at you like are you nuts!? and that's the thing... people should respect other people be it woman/man...

I THOROUGHLY AGREE WITH THIS TYPE OF CODE OF CONDUCT AND IT SHOULD BE APPLY TO BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS . AS MOST OF THE RAPE CASES R MOSTLY DUE TO THE LAMNESS IN THE DRESSES OF GIRLS .I THNK GIRLS SHOULD UNDERSTAND WHATS THE REAL CAUSE OF WEARING THE SHORT LENGTH CLOTHES " THIS IS NOT A fASHION " BUT ACCTUALLY THERE R SOME IDIOTIC FELLOWS WHO DONT UNDERSTAND THE WEARING OF SUCH CLOTHES UNNECESSARY ARGUMENTING ON THIS TOPIC WITH LOTS OF WORDS WASTING ON THIS TOPIC .ITS NOT ANY RELEGIOUS BELIEF BUT A CODE OF CONDUCT WHICH ALL SHOULD FOLLOW

Ok!! But then please explain why are little girls and old women raped as well!! It is not just the girls who like to dress in short skirts or something like that!! Admittedly, I like wearing shorts and short skirts!! I find nothing wrong with it!! Besides, rape isn't a act of passion or love, but it is done out of hatred and disrespect for women, or because of a mental problem! Rape isn't sex, but a violent hate crime!! Clothes really don't have anything to do with it! It really is about who is the easier target!!!

Bombay Univ says mini skirt ban helps stop rape

Mumbai, June 23: Bombay University plans to ban women from wearing mini skirts, tight tops and shorts, saying this will help prevent rape.

< ="" src="http://banners.expressindia.com/banner/eiintel.js">< ="" ="text/" src="http://banners.expressindia.com/adsnew/adjs.php?para=no&n=635996136&what=zone:419&target=_blank&exclude=,">
Officials at the university say they would prefer to see women students in a traditional salwar-kameez with no deep neckline.

"An attire should be such that it should not be offensive or cause distraction to fellow students and lecturers," Vice Chancellor Vijay Khole told reporters.

Students have criticised the proposal saying it is not the answer to preventing rape.

"We are not children who should be told what we can and cannot wear," said a 19-year-old management studies student, Alka Mehta. "Rape is not related to what the victim wears but what is in the mind of the rapist."

The proposals follow a spate of rapes across the country, including the rape of a teenager by a police constable on Marine Drive in Mumbai.

Activists say there is a rape every 30 minutes across the country.

The university says the proposals could be implemented before the end of the year. However, university officials say they will not throw out students who do not stick to the dress code, but gently advise them to wear "something more presentable".

Actually it's funny to say that preventing girls from wearing short dresses would stop rape.

Isn't it better to say that if there were no girls in this world then rape could be stopped?😡

Firstly, I do not think that a particular dress code should be implemented in universities and colleges apart from the basic ones which say "shirts and pants/dresses must be worn in classes".

Obviously you cannot come shirtless to a lecture or wear a swimsuit to class! That is where I draw the line when it comes to freedom in clothing.

But, I completely disagree about simply women being the target of rape just because they wear revealing clothes! Rape can happen to anyone - a child (boy or girl), girls wearing conservative clothing; even young men have been victims of molestation!

Even in conservative Islamic countries, where women are covered in Burkhas, rape occurs!
eve teasing is our "janamsiddha haq"
By this reasoning, "Adam teasing" would be the birthright of girls as well, wouldn't it?
