Protective instincts. 😛

But see I was good RTH, I did not engage in any needless arguments there. 😊

Well done Mod ji 😆 I had gone off IF for this very reason - the majority thinks they are better, smarter, more intelligent, more educated, more knowledgeable etc etc than everybody else who holds an opinion contrary to theirs. The "miscreant post" is such a good example of "pompous drum-beating, chest thumping declarations without actually meaning anything".
WA - more than in real life, age and maturity do not go hand-in-hand in virtual life.

Define "maturity" please. I noticed one lost soul here who has no clue what they are talking about😆
Some folks think that age and maturity are inversly proportional to the amount of fun one can have in rl and/or vl. I feel like kicking their butts royally and bringing them back to their senses - if they have any😆

Define Maturity

Here is what Merriam Webster says

Main Entry: 1mature
Pronunciation: \m?-'tu?r, -'tyu?r also -'chu?r\
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): maturer; maturest
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin maturus ripe; akin to Latin mane in the morning, manus good
Date: 15th century

1 : based on slow careful consideration <a mature judgment>
2 a (1) : having completed natural growth and development : ripe (2) : having undergone maturation b : having attained a final or desired state <mature wine> c : having achieved a low but stable growth rate <paper is a mature industry> d : of, relating to, or being an older adult : elderly <airline discounts for mature travelers>
3 a : of or relating to a condition of full development b : characteristic of or suitable to a mature individual <mature outlook> <a show with mature content>
4 : due for payment <a mature loan>
5 : belonging to the middle portion of a cycle of erosion

A lot of people would like to believe they are mature. Either because they have age or life experience behind them. Some misinterpret peer approval to be maturity. But what matters more is that you have turned your age to wisdom and experience to learning.

I'm going to PM you an extract of what I had written a few years ago about the problem with immature elders and teens on the internet.

Oh absolutely, Sarina! I just don't like stereotyping that all teens are this way and all adults are that way. You know? The point of the topic was that people who are older automatically consider themselves to be right and for the other person to be wrong simply because they think that they are older and therefore must know more.

As far as the kids who're full of themselves --- I say slap 'em, and slap 'em hard!

Shola ji, nothing goes hand-in-hand in virtual life ... I've learned that a few times over! 😆

Hum tum 😉😆
Only one lost soul????
On a serious note - I would say maturity is the ability to put yourself in the other person's shoe in order to understand their perspective, and if you can't do that, then to hear them out before jumping to conclusions.

I think its not as much as a problem of people who think they are older ergo more mature. It seems to be a problem of people who are delusional about their maturity and consider themselves to be either older, smarter and wiser.

Referring to that II example, how old is that person? I'd say late teens. Hardly an age to be looking at others as school kids etc.

I wasn't in the mood at the time, or I'd have written a reply. Also, I'm trying to maintain a good reputation in that section. People think I'm N.I.C.E! I know .... its definitely opposite of what I'm told in every other section. 😆

Jokes apart, if she is a teenager, I'll kick her butt. She called me a school girl --- although I didn't take that as an insult because I was just as cool when I was in school as I'm now 😛 --- I think there's something terribly wrong with her. Although I don't think she's in her teens ... she's older. I caught that much from her posts. Do me a favor and take her name out of the quote ... too many II people lurking around here. Don't what news to spread to that section. 😆
