My topics always start out with anecdotes, so deal with it:

I was in the Indian Idol section the other day, and as usual, there was a lot of bashing etc going on. In one of the topics, I got into a "debate" (😳) with someone who in the end called me a "school girl" and told me that I did not know what was really important in life. Okay, I get it, I don't claim to know the meaning of life or its significance, but I wonder if by calling me a school girl and implying my immaturity, whether it really boosted her ego or if she simply believes that being older makes her more mature and therefore wiser.

I always believe that those older than me are more experienced, and therefore wiser in making judgments and decisions than I am. But does maturity really stem from age or does experience speak louder? How often do you come across someone older than you that is being utterly stupid and reckless?

*Why, yes, I already know the answer to this debate and everyone's opinion on it. And since you ask, this really is an attempt to bring some life to DM ... so play along. 😛*

Haha what a topic,no seriously what a topic you deserve a clap😆👏👏👏
Looks like you read my mind there😆
Ok, I personally think age has nothing to do with maturity it's all your nature,ubring and the circumstances you 're born and brought up into...like I experience many young folks on IF who are like 5,7 years younger than me but they sound more mature and do childish stuff because they're young and I keep thinking if they're actually the same age they claim to be but just coz someone sounds mature than me doesn't make the person older like I said it depends on how you're brought up.
Maturity does come with experience and you don't really need to be in your 40's or so to be mature....age does play an important role in maturity obviously the more you grow up the more you experience things,but it doesn't completely depend upon the experience you get through age but general experience which you can have at any age......
I myself got told many times that I'm silly,childish,innocent,and immature...even I remember once someone was shocked when I told them I'm married and I was shocked to know that the person was ONLY 16😲😆
Also I remember someone asked me what grade are you in so people keep asking such questions...and obviously when you're young you will get to hear things like that;)
LOL once someone said you need to be mature to understand what am I talking about 😆 😭
@Bold:
I too feel elders are more mature and wise in making judgements but they can either be wrong the only thing which irks me is when they would ALWAYS want everyone to agree to them just coz they ARE elders and the way they pass judgements is completely based on THEIR personal experiences with people such thinking is beyond my understanding..being elder doesn't really authorise one to say anything bout anyone and pass any kinda judgement they want...I've experienced few so called mature people acting real immature in both R/V life but real ones are horrible especially when they're your teachers or distant relitives like parents cousins cann't stand then and their and interruptions🤢😆
So the point is a person can be mature at any age there's NO need for one to be in their 50's to be labelled as matureEmbarrassed

11 pages and we are still on? I think i made my point on page 1 or something and didnt check this thread after that 😆

Anyways, Mahi requested me to check her post and yeah i agree with you baba!...and another point that crosses my mind is that some people just like to sound immature when friends are around or when they are interacting virtually..Sounding mature or serious all the time is rather boring, i personally tend to stay away from people who sound pretty dull and serious all the time , they like bore me. 😆 .I like the laid back/carefree attitude and people that fall into those categories too, i am not saying that mature people cant be hilarious and fun, but when you think of someone mature you ( or myself anyway) automatically think them to act all grown-up..and we all know that grown-ups are not exactly fun company.

I like being mature about my future, but when living in my present, about 75% of the time i act and talk really silly...anyone else who floats on the same boat as mines? 😆
