My topics always start out with anecdotes, so deal with it:

I was in the Indian Idol section the other day, and as usual, there was a lot of bashing etc going on. In one of the topics, I got into a "debate" (😳) with someone who in the end called me a "school girl" and told me that I did not know what was really important in life. Okay, I get it, I don't claim to know the meaning of life or its significance, but I wonder if by calling me a school girl and implying my immaturity, whether it really boosted her ego or if she simply believes that being older makes her more mature and therefore wiser.

I always believe that those older than me are more experienced, and therefore wiser in making judgments and decisions than I am. But does maturity really stem from age or does experience speak louder? How often do you come across someone older than you that is being utterly stupid and reckless?

*Why, yes, I already know the answer to this debate and everyone's opinion on it. And since you ask, this really is an attempt to bring some life to DM ... so play along. 😛*

1) Who is this person who called you a school girl?
2) Where can I set them straight?

There is definitely a correlation between age and maturity. As we experience in life, our minds learn and evolve. So ideally as we grow older we have learned through experience and have matured. However, being older does not mean more mature, nor does being younger mean less mature. There are other variables like the type of person, the type of upbringing and the type of life experiences. Sometimes older men and women can be extremely immature and childish and some very young children can show amazing maturity.

A mature person never feel Ego...and someone told b4,'maturity is knowing when and where to be immature'... I think its simply the wisdom to determine , how we act and react right, depend upon situation....😊

Age is just a number baby!

For example, take me. I can put some of the 40 years old to shame 😛 ( You agree dont you? 😉😆)

More than age, maturity comes with experience and the environment the person is in. An environment is one of the biggest factor that determines the person's nature. Some people are forced to mature at an early age because of the environment they stay in and some people are never given the chance to mature for themselves ( Ie parents spoon-feeding and doing EVERYTHING for their ''baby'' even when they are in their 30's.). Parenting plays a big factor in maturing a person and of course the kind of life one is presented with.

Maturity doesnt count the number of years the person has lived but how exposed the person has been to life.

I found the miscreant post that caused this

I cant be blinded in my judgement.....though this show is singing based it is not a faltoo show.........winning Indian idol for me is as prestigious as getting an award....its imp that a person who recieves it must b talented and positive with good overall behaviour to achieve such a laurel ....its either people writing here are little kids who havent yet stepped out of school............and do not realisid how imp good conduct and character is imp in achieving success in life...I hate to say this but i cant stop myself from saying it....I pity people who cannot differntitate between positive attitudes like self esteem, & humbleness from negative attitudes like arrogance/improper conduct..I had enough to say.....this person is not upto the standards based on what has been shown so far...if ppl are happy with a person below standards...its their choice.......i am not asking anyone to change their attitude coz of my writing so plzz chill out..........

This page - https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/indian-idol-6/1393497/i-already-dont-like-yashrajs-attitude

But Ajnu, at the same time don't you think the internet is littered with little kids who are full of themselves. I

As regards -
"But does maturity really stem from age or does experience speak louder? How often do you come across someone older than you that is being utterly stupid and reckless?"

I guess experience is bound to come with age. However , what's more important is how you deal with those experiences, what you learn from each situation that you come across. One needs to have an open mind . Everything else will fall in place then --slowly and steadily.
