Actually it depends on places to places, Situations to situations, environments to environments and many more things. It should not be good to praise or criticise them from a static place.

Its very easy to ask this from your comfortable sitting room. It is equally easy to reply from a comfortable living room, but spend one day as a police officer. Try to be in Hemant Karkare's shoes and you will know how tough it is.

I am sorry if I have offended any one but really because of a few corrupt ones if we stop trusting them, anarchy is not far away

Sorry I am a bit passionates about this topic

On 26/11 it was the police and NSG who saved us. What we would have done without them. On one side was the sea on other a terrorist. We lived with this terrorist for 72 hours. And there was only one hope- The Mumbai Police Who we should have trusted. It was the Police which was our Saviour. . They did not let us down So a salute for Mumbai Ploce

I would like to ask you, if we dont trust them who do we trust?

nandini.....i can understand what would be your situation there.........i have so many relatives in mumbai.......26/11 was the most horrible thing to happen.......whenever i read this incident ''mere romte khade ho jate hain......aur aankho mein aasu...''......I Salute you Mumbaikar and MUMBAI POLICE FORCE.

Yes. The life of the police is a tough one in India. Let us start with basic facts.
1) Their uniform colour is shared by Corporation workers, Water works department, NCC army wing cadets and the sewage department.😕

So where is the immediate recognition they get when in uniform in public without all the stars and stripes? All over the Western world the uniform colour of the police is not shared on this scale.

2) Their shoes is as hard as can be and many a foot problem is part and parcel of hte law enforcement division.

3) In India a constable is lucky if he gets a cycle(in this day and age of fast automobiles) to go on his rounds. An officer is lucky if he gets a bike.

Compare this with the cars and bikes with the latest equipment that the western world gives its men in the police force!!!

4) None of our police station has a well ventilated loo system (except for a few stations).
5) I have yet to hear of a good canteen facility in all police stations so that they won't be at the mercy of any road side eatery.
(our colleges have a better facility in loos and canteens when compared to our police stations🤔)
Think of this.
6) The police laws in India were made when the British ruled us!!! Not much constitutional or Judiciary change has taken place to suit Indian people and the fast changing lifestyles in India!!!😒

Now with all this going against them, we do find good and honest people. Yes a large chunk in many places may be corrupt. Maybe a portion of this corrupt people can lead a better professional life if a few of their long standing problems are rectified.
What do you all think?

answer is subjective and as like every other field police also have some good and some bad officers.
If there are officers who sacrifice their lives for nation then there are officers who torture innocent ppl (no offences mean)
but after all that is how our system is and we have to survive in it and it is our responsibility to bring a good change in the system
and the first step for this is that we all must a little faith in police then "JUSTICE MIGHT BE DELAYED BUT WILL NOT BE DENIED"

i have asked this questions to many elder persons & got different answers............

it's all about what they have experienced.......... if they have come in touch with good, efficient officers, then they have +ve attitude towards the police........ otherwise, not.

i have met many persons (some in my family too) who have seen the ugly side of police............. & have been affected by it personally...............

but i myself have some faith in police............. everyone needs to have................ police needs it..........
