Yes . I do trust real police. They are not as glamorous as the police on TV serials or films. But they do their duty well.Be they civilian police or sena police. Many are the times I have come across selfless police doing their duty.
Many a traffic police lose their health yet if they are not at their post Indian traffic will be out of this world.
A major incident happened in my house. This happened some years back. Our maid's husband came to her house and wiped clean of all the stuff including kid's clothes, eatables and went absconding(he had abandoned her 2 years prior to this incident) She came crying to us at noon - immediately after reaching home finishing her work. My mother went with her to the police station and helped her to file an FIR. The inspector there took it and my mother did request him not to allow anyone to ask money from her. Unbelievable... not only did he pursue the case, he got back all her things in a week's time and warned the husband not to come near the wife!!!
Till he was transfered he came often to all the streets in his jurisdiction and kept a check on security and safety of girls.
Later other officers didn't keep such close tabs but to this day one call and the response from the police is quick in my area- be it to down shutters of noise makers, drag races in residential areas or eve teasing check.
So how can I not trust the police? I know there are corrupt ones.Well aren't corrupt people present in all fields? Good police personnel are there in this country. Let's applaud them. They need the appreciation too.

If you were in Mumbai in November of 2008 you wouldnt have asked this question.
Its very easy to ask this from your comfortable sitting room. It is equally easy to reply from a comfortable living room, but spend one day as a police officer. Try to be in Hemant Karkare's shoes and you will know how tough it is.

I am sorry if I have offended any one but really because of a few corrupt ones if we stop trusting them, anarchy is not far away

Sorry I am a bit passionates about this topic

On 26/11 it was the police and NSG who saved us. What we would have done without them. On one side was the sea on other a terrorist. We lived with this terrorist for 72 hours. And there was only one hope- The Mumbai Police Who we should have trusted. It was the Police which was our Saviour. . They did not let us down So a salute for Mumbai Ploce

I would like to ask you, if we dont trust them who do we trust?

the life of a police is one of the hardest............ i would say harder than army....

the army gets respected almost every where............ but the police???????? no such luck!

sometimes, police do some bad jobs............... but why is their negative side is highlighted most of the times????? why is not their successes mentioned as much???

it's true that some are corrupt, do not do their job properly (those who are from kolkata shall surely remember a sad incident happened recently in Barasat.).

but we should not blame the whole police department for that. there are many good, efficient officers.

police needs our trust. Our trust is oxygen to them, for their fight against injustice, corruption, crime. we have to give our support to the police, we have to stand along with them to make our society pure.

I not only totally believe in the India Police I'm very very proud of them !!! Like Nandini even I'd say it's very easy to sit and say the Indian Police is no good unless one is in their shoes !! They are according to me doing their job very nicely !! It's just these some irritating unsuitable elements who are highlighted by today's media which unluckily competes only for TRPs !! and what is conveyed to the people are the "Of no use" acts of these some people !!!
The Indian Police has some really great achievements to be proud of !!! I'm really proud of them !!! Be it the Mumbai Blast time or any such incidents !!! One incident which always comes to my mind when I talk of the Indian Police was the Diwali Delhi Blasts !!! Oh that was one of the scariest and extremely traumatizing moments for us !! With so many spots being under scanner for bombs & so many blasts happening and my area being Central Delhi it was very very scary !!! My mom and maasi had gone for shopping and I & Dad went out for something when we got the news that blasts were happening !!! We were horribly scared and rushed back home !! Thankfully Mom,Maasi & Bro were safe !! They said that before they had nearly entered the road the police managed to stop them !!! They said they had seen the smoke from far !! and the police managed to help them return back !!! So yeah I must say I believe and am proud of the Indian Police !!

Well, yes, even I agree with Nandini di.... it looks very easy to sit and comment from far.... many people have this habbit "Police yeh hai, police woh hai", just because of some people who are defaming the police force.... but because of these people, we cannot neglect the true policemen working and serving our country so wonderfully.....
And yes, if it were not for our police force in 2008, we would have lost much much more people if our police force would have not put up their lives just to protect us..... we always take the police force for granted, thinking what they ahve to do, sitting in air-conditioned offices, taking bribes, commanding constables here and there, are arrogant people working...... but it's not that way.... we never think about the difficulties the officers have to go through......
They have to sacrifice their home, have to stay away from their families, always their lives are in danger, yet they put up a smile and work for their country, and despite that we say we don't trust them.... then what's the use of their hardwork????
And the police force is defamed, mainly because of the media.... wouldn't say always, but sometimes, they haven't even done anything, and the media will start spreading oof rumours and put things up in their spices!!! If they are going to do so, then obviously people will have a wrong impression of a police force....
If we don't trust them, who can we trust???? And yeah, I do trust them!!! I would first of all give a salute to the police force, and thank them for what they are doing for us..... I'm proud to have a Police Force like that!!

Thank you Bhavna , Rashida and Darknight for supporting my point of view.

Its very difficult to be a family member of a police officer

26/11 was not like a bomb blast, a bomb blast is tragic but it happens and only leaves an aftermath.

26/11 was like living in the war zone 24/7. It brought the unstoppable Mumbai to a standstill. Mumbai became a ghost city. We all felt the gun point and who faced it for us. The Police!

Yes it was the NSG which finally rescued Mumbai. But without the ground support of the police it would have been impossible.

The Mumbai Police lost great officers during this operation, but it earned the unending trust and respect of the ordinary Mumbaikar

Full points to what you said Nandini di!!!! It was actually only because of the Police force, that the situiation mainly came under control, otherwise it would have been a huge loss not on for Mumbai, but also for India.....
