Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda tied the knot on February 26, 2026, in Udaipur, but their journey to happiness hasn't been smooth. A controversy erupted over an alleged leaked audio clip of Rashmika's mother, Suman, discussing her past relationship with ex-fiancé Rakshit Shetty. Rashmika has warned of legal action, calling it a "serious invasion of privacy" and asking people to remove the clip within 24 hours.

When Rashmika fought with her family to work with Rashmika

Rashmika Mandanna opened up about her struggles in the film industry at the 2019 pre-release event of Dear Comrade. Looking sombre, she shared how she fought with her family to pursue acting, saying, "I came to the film industry after fighting with my parents, family and friends. There's a perception that it's not safe for girls. I still persevered despite not having a film family background."

She also revealed her family's scepticism about working with Vijay Deverakonda again after Geetha Govindam (2018). "When Bharat (Kamma) sir sent me the script, I really wanted to do it. But it took a lot to convince my family. It was a bad fight at home. They said, no, don't do a second film with Vijay. I said, it's not important who I'm doing it with, Rashmika said. She faced backlash for an on-screen kiss with Vijay in the film.

Vijay Deverakonda also acknowledged the issues Rashmika faced due to working with him, showing his awareness of the backlash she received. “Our dear Lilly (Rashmika’s role). She is the most important character; she’s the soul, she represents every woman, and Lilly is the one who will be remembered after watching the film. We searched a lot for who could play her. Once Rashmika okayed it, I know how tough it was for her. She did it despite it affecting her personal life. People said whatever they felt like. But she gave her life for Lilly. I thank you, Rashmika; you’ve done such a beautiful job.

Rashmika warns of serious action

Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda's chemistry in Dear Comrade (2019) was a hit, and fans have been waiting for them to reunite. After a 7-year gap, they're teaming up again for Ranabaali, a historical drama set in 19th-century India. This marks their third collaboration, following Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019). Ranabaali releases on September 11, 2026.

Rashmika Mandanna is taking a stand against the alleged leaked audio clip of her mother, Suman, discussing her past relationship with ex-fiancé Rakshit Shetty. She wrote on Instagram, "It has been 8 years since a sustained campaign of misinformation, harassment, and targeted attacks from a section of the media and individuals online had started against me. Rashmika clarified the clip was from a private conversation, taken out of context, and shared without consent.

Calling it a "serious invasion of privacy" and "circulation of misleading and defamatory material," Rashmika gave platforms 24 hours to remove the material, threatening legal action if they don't comply. Rashmika and Rakshit met on the sets of Kirik Party (2016), got engaged in 2017, and broke off in 2018. The leaked audio allegedly discusses issues caused by Rashmika's work in Geetha Govindam, a film with Vijay Deverakonda.
