This was one incident which made me feel that terrorists once caught have to be killed immediately.

exactly!!! This is what i wanted to say.... I was soo scraed for the past few months..since Kasab was caught..I was quite sure that there would something like u mentioned!!! Now i just want this sentence to get implemented soon.
But u know what..today he moment the sentence was announced, my heart skipped a beat..i havent told this to anyone, but the moment i heard the news, i became so upset!! A little sad i might say..then i was reminded of the crimes that Kasab did and now i have managed to console myself!!!

@ drilabh. I know you were not specifying ACP I said its hilarious and first thought that came to mind reading topic heading.

And yes I am in favour of Death sentence.. Indian Law was made such that Chahe 10 logon bach jaye lekin koi bhi ek begunah phansi pe na chade.

Although 10 people doesn't get the death sentence although they deserve to be hanged but no innocent should be hanged. that's why there is delay in justice in India. rarely India give death Sentence. although injustice do happen.

Time is changing human nature is changing. More people are getting violent so law should be harsh as well but rarely capital punishment given.

I think capital punishment should, as is rightly described by the authorities, be reserved for the "rarest of rare" cases. For example, a repeat offender who commits mass murder and is totally remorseless about his actions. The world is better off without such people, methinks. And Kasab himself also falls under this category. Phaansi potentially has serious demoralising effect on like-minded people about what fate awaits them should their plans go wrong and they get prosecuted by the law. This is what used to happen to captured pirates in old Europe, they were executed and their bodies put on public display as a warning to the others. And of course, keeping these terrorists in custody for extended periods is always dangerous because of the potential hijacking/kidnapping incidents like visrom mentioned.

The reason given for extended time taken when deciding on giving phaansi to a person is very understandable because agar kisi begunaah ko phaansi ho gayi to usse bura kuch nahi ho sakta. But I still think our courts take an abnormally long time when deciding on these matters, when this stuff, especially ones involving terrorists like Kasab or the Ajmal dude, should be dealt with as soon as possible.

Before answering this question, it is important to know why any punishment is given to a criminal. One possible and valid reason is that when criminals are punished, then some other potential criminals may feel afraid of commiting crime. Of course, crimes continue to happen. But if nobody were ever punished, then there would be more and more criminals.
So, we should ask if giving death punishment can serve as deterrent to other potential criminals? The answer is that yes, it will serve as deterrent, if not to all, then at least to some potential criminals.
In that sense, I agree with Supreme Court's rule that in rarest of rare cases, death sentence should be given.

Anyone who think Kasab should NOT have been sentenced to death, I want to know if they were in Mumbai during those 3 days. If not you can never understand what this man with his group did to my city. I was there and I know how all Mumbaikars lived each second of those 3 days. I have been waiting for this day ever since he has been caught.

Even though i live in Delhi,I could feel the tension and pain that the Mumbaikars faced during that time and this person who caused it has been given the ideal punishment. I'm not talking only about Kasav any person who causes pain and grief amongst others should be made to face the same,I still remember the serial blasts that happened in Delhi during diwali time we Delhiites haven't been able to cope up with the trauma as yet,so according to me giving capital punishment to those who deserve it is not wrong yes but I also agree that in our show its a little exaggerated i mean har chote mote khooni ko toh phaansi nahi di jaathi

Please dont say Mumbaikars... every Indian felt the same way those 3 days, Mumbaikar or not.

And that was a time when there were all kinds of attacks and blasts happening all over the country. So it was a time of terror for everyone. I dont want to mention where I'm from, but I'll say we had terrible serial bomb blasts here too. Everyone wanted to see their family members home as soon as possible as we didnt know when another bomb might go off....

This is true. But Mumbaikars take this one more 'personally' because their daily life was affected by it. The rest of the Indians didn't stop going to work or have a state of 'curfew' for 3 days. The whole country was constantly following the stuff on TV( read - Barkha Dutt's emotional reporting) and knew what was happening.
I have a close relative who works in CST station - reservation office. She still remembers that day, when she caught the 9PM local train. Had she missed it, God alone knows what would have happened.
There were terror attacks in my city too...and one of the targets was one of my most frequently visited and favourite eateries....😭 (bang opposite to my college)

When I used that word I knew this I will see a response like this. You took it the way I did not mean it, I did not use that word the way Shiv Sena or MNS uses (read mis-uses). I meant people residing in Mumbai at that time. I have heard many a debates where people say a lot of things without thinking about people who were then and there because its easier to talk when one is away. I was just putting my feeling forward not demeaning what others feel. I am just saying I support the judgment and I have been waiting for it for over a year. I hope my stand is clear.
