You are right, Mishti. I went back and re-read the poem from way back in Dec. - Vanessa - butterfly in Latin!

Though I am a bit late but would still give my take on it...
Radhika was able to answer back to Amma not only b'coz of the unconditional love of her husband and in-laws but also as she was able to look through the cunningness of Amma.
Yes, Amma had always used Visakha as an emotional blackmail on Radhika, but today when she used the same thing she fell flat on her face... The reason was that although Radhika knew that Amma hated her, she had never understood that Amma's hatredness towards her was so strong that the girl for whom Amma did everything in her life can also be harmed by her without even thinking twice, just to stop Radhika from enjoying a few moments of her life....
Today Radhika was able to see that, she understood the strong hatred lying in Amma's heart... She understood that Amma knows only one feeling in her life and that is to hate her... To spoil her life, Amma would go to the extent of burning her DEAR POTI also and harm her children also...
Yes, now Amma can never use that hold on Radhika again as she has seen her heart... In addition Radhika has also understood Visakha, that whatever she may do for her, Visakha would never be satisfied with her or accept her
My 2 cents

Abhilasha, thanks for posting. I love to read everyone's take on the episode, late or early! You are right that Radhika saw through Amma. She has known of Amma's wickedness all along but refrained from doing anything about it because of her sense of obligation. Today the hatred would have affected not only Vishakha but Dev, her love, who is suffering from alienation from his own family while trying to help Amma's good-for-nothing granddaughter. Amma in her blind hatred fails to see a bigger picture. She crossed the biggest boundary today in Radhika's mind. A while back I had mentioned her as a tigress protecting her cub and that is exactly what she was doing - protecting Dev directly and Vishakha indirectly.
