Why did Amma not have a rebuttal for Rads....

Everyone will agree that the best dialogue in the episode today was between Radhika and Amma.

In the bedroom when Radhika stops Amma from pouring oil on Vishakha, among other things, Radhika tells Amma that what she thinks belongs to her poti was not her poti's to begin with. At that point you just want to jump out of the chair and hug Radhika for finally speaking up.
Amma is shocked that Radhika can come out and say things to Amma. She then proceeds to ask Radhika where does she get the strength to "sass back" at her. Amma was forced to shut up and could not come up with her abusive rebuttal to Radhika's response on 2 counts:
That Radhika has the one thing that supasses any material wealth that Amma can wish, grab or manipulate for "mor poti" - her husband's unconditional love, Radhika's trump card!
In the next instance Radhika touches Amma's feet and says that as her elder she will continue to seek blessing, turning Amma into a bludhering old worthless hag who could not utter a word!
Radhika asserted her claim to something Amma cannot force for "mor poti" - Dev's unconditional love. Additionally, not once did Radhika let go of her politeness or her sanskaar! What a contrast between 2 sisters raised in the same household!
How divine! Or should I say, How sublime!

Gardes,
I particularly liked her answer to Amma's often repeated thing that she took Vishaka's rights and she will not be happy.
Radhika answered for the first time that she only got what was always hers from the beginning (Dev both spiritually and officially as her husband). She needed to say that to Amma. Many people including Dev had said it to her, but it never penetrated her thick head. It won't change her now either but she now knows that she can not bully Radhika any more. She always used Radhika against Radhika's own interests. She can't do it anymore.
Also, I liked that Radhika's craving for Amma's acceptance is now gone probably not only due to Dev's love but also due to Dadi's love too. She found a real grandmother in Dadi. So, she touched Amma's feet as her duty, but didn't expect a blessing and wasn't sad to not get it either. She is now indifferent towards Amma. During the wedding, there was a desperation in her to get acceptance from Amma, but now it is gone. She gives her respect because she is her father's mother and nothing else.

Why, you are absolutely right.

Radhika has seen Daadima's nurturing love and has finally contrasted that to Amma's abuse, but she has also not lost sight of the fact that respect should be given where respect is due or she would be called arrogant!
I just love the blossoming Radhika! Her eyes have been opened to unconditional love, not just from her husband, but also from the people that matter to her in the sasural. She has never craved material things and was always seeking acceptance. What she got from everyone (that matter) in her sasuraal was more than she could have asked from Kaanha!
I loved today's episode other than Amma's stale pranks!

Well lets hope the creatives don't ruin Rads by making her go back to her old ways if and when Dev snaps out of his obessesive guilt. These creatives just don't understand that they don't have to show Rads strong and intelligent at the expense of Dev or vice versa. I absolutely hate the inconsistencies in characterization of these two and I hate the fact that the creatives don't show them as a strong, united front!
The best thing about the episode was indeed Rads standing up to Amma but at the same time maintaining her dignity and good-upbringing. I hope she puts Vishaka in her place next!

Gardes, in my humble opinion the reason that Amma did not have a rebuttal is very simple. Today when Radhika held Amma's hand and stopped Amma from hurting Vishaka not only did she break the cycle of violence but also broke the power Amma had over her.

In real life such a feat is very difficult to achieve for a survivor! How was Radhika able to do this?

Amma has controlled Radhika in various ways. She has always treated Radhika like a servant, degraded her life, made decisions for Radhika and consequently made her feel that her emotions and her needs are insignificant. Amma robbed her of her identity as a woman worthy of love and tried to erase her existence by attempting to murder her.

After Rads became Dev's wife, people who meant a lot to her (Dev, Dadi, Vaishalai, Vivek, Birju and the staff) treats her like she is a queen. They want her opinions and bide by her decisions. Dev gave her, her life back and nullified Amma's act. The PF has given her back her identity as a woman to be loved and cherished.

The strength that Amma saw in Radhika today rendered her speechless. But she has a perpetrator mentality through and through. She will be re-energized in thinking she can bring Radhika's downfall by continuing to wield her power and control over Radhika. It will be interesting to see how Radhika will continue to fight back.

Loved today's episode. It was very therapeutic!!!

I hope she remains this way going forward. I loved the way she spoke to that fool #1...thanks Misti...she stood her ground and gave very fitting answers to the fool. Did anyone notice radhika was so angry that her nostrils were flaring...LOL. welcome in your new avtar radhika. Really enjoyed watching you today.

Gardes...........Radhika treated amma as if she was a tiny insect, did not raise her voice once and very calmly blasted her off........she dealt with amma is her own way and then walked off without looking back. As Angake has said she broke the cycle of abuse ........it takes lots of guts, will power and self belief to stand up to ones abuser and give that person a piece of your mind. ......She did her duty by touching ammas feet but did not wait for the blessing.......it was really a sublime scene........where were these creatives hiding in the past year and in the beginning of this year.

Gardes ... it was very interesting how Amma tried out all her usual standard dialogues on Rads ... only problem is that they did not work on her this time

I absolutely loved the last part ... I was being very petty and hoping that amma would trip and the oil would land on her face and people would realize what she had done ... but this was so much better

It was like a balm to watch Rads give back to Amma ... we all knew Rads had it in her. She needed to be pushed to the extreme ... and she feels like she has lost the Dev that was happy and carefree ... so this has awakened the tigress in her and she is ready to fight

Btw ... what is Mrin doing perpetually positioned outside Radev's room?
