Yes..I read it today, Page 345..Ela In July I am making a trip to Fathpur Sikri. After today I have decided for sure...He says The Petrification of a passing mood in Akbar's Strange Nature, begun and finished at lightning speed while that mood lasted, inconceivable and impossible at any other time or any other circumstances

Sindhu and all,

The words of Smith mean that >>>

Nothing as beautiful as Sikri was created BEFORE and NOTHING can be created after wards.

And he calls Sikri as "Romance in Stone".

This is one of my old posts about Sikri...

""
Akbar and Mariam Uz Zamani. This place is very much associated with BOTH of them.

CONTRARY to popular opinion that, Sikri construction started after birth of Salim in 1569, due to blessings of Salim Chisti ; Sikri began MUCH BEFORE Salim's birth. There is an inscription dating around 1566-67 there..

Rang Mahal, used by MUZ, during Salim's Pregnancy, is one such building. Also, HK/MUZ is reported to have given a farman to get her palace constructed in Sikri, as per her choice, on Akbar's seal. This is another palace before Salim's birth. This was shown on the show.

This is how Fatehpur Sikri structures have been explained in accounts:
1. 'ROMANCE' in Stone
2. Poem in Stone
3. A wonder in stone
4. Poetry is Stone

They have described it to be a romantic cum spiritual cum aesthetic place.

""

BTW, In tabaqat i akbari, nizamuddin says that before birth of salim Sikri palaces' construction began .. :D

Looks like MUZ, Akbar never attended the funeral of Murad and Daniyal. Is that so..Akbar came to know about Daniyal death only after a month right. How sad..

Abhay no one can be sure of Akbar ...but his many actions have gotten me confused...When u read abt these kings like Jalal in school books everything looks rosy but their reality is much more uglier then that...Jalal was not an orthodox muslim at all and many many of his actions went against the teaching of Mohammad...He was not a sufi either as sufism preaches love but not non-violence...Jalal did..

Also, the news of death of Murad was concealed by Hamida Bano Begum . She told the news herself after many days.

Normally, mothers do not attend funerals.

Also the body of Hamida Bano was sent to Delhi , Akbar did not go there.
I dont think this matters a lot. :)
