Yes, his actions show that he was not belonging to any religion completely.
I find it very tough to write anything with complete conclusion about his religious views.
A very complex man and till date i am reading and reading about him. So many shades.

Yes, I too agree with that... Even Salim was inclined to Christianity so that he can get the support of Portuguese to go against Akbar. Same is Said about Akbar as well.

That said in Din Illahi, some say even Christianity was included along with Jainisim. Not sure...

Sindhu,

Salim basically wanted the support of those people in Muslim nobility who had suffered under Akbar. :)

ah okay. Got it.

Coming to JA VS MP. agree both have NR, what not, at least in MP we get to see the culprit being caught or exposed. Read WU, today MP comes to know about jagmal. IN JA always the villains evil wins and JJ never will have any clue at all about this. gosh

Heard this dialogue of Salim >>> He said to Haidar >> "Shayad aap jaante nahi ki hum sharab nahi peete..."

Who gives such dialogues ??? 😆

Salim's character, in reality who drank not only distilled but double distilled wines, is saying i do not drink...😆🤣

ANyways, after some time, he drank...Full 10 minutes Salim Anarkali. 😳🥱

Abhay one question...If Jalal had gone far from Islam then why he appointed all muslim teachers for Khurram? Look at the impact..Jalal's liberal policy was very slightly moved towards orthodox Islam during Salim's reign and more so during Khurram's reign..

I dont know how to handle this question. It is valid. But, i think this is not related to Akbar's moving away from Islam.

When we say he moved away from Islam it means he did certain acts which were not in accordance to Islam.

Yes, i agree that Shah Jahan's reign was less tolerant compared to Salim.

BTW, In Akbarnama no names of tutors of Shah Jahan are given. Shah Jahan's writers gave his tutors name's in his own history - Padshahnama..

Instead > in Akbarnama, the after birth ceremony of Khusrau are mentioned in it. :)

Abul Fazl in Akbarnama did not give much credence to Khurram. :P

I Finished Redaing once the Vincent Smith book, need to re read again. Ela u reading AkbarNama from this same website. One good thing happened with JA serial sinking, I got time to read than sitting and venting and stressing about JJ. Learned some history.

Before Ashoka serial starts, may be a good idea to read on Ashoka as well.
  1. Daily Dinner was served in porcelain china for Akbar
  2. From Venice colored glass was ordered and 2 million and half rupees of vessels and colored glass was left after Akbar Death that was only used for him.
  3. Akbar played Kettle drum and Practiced Hindi vocalization under Lala Kalawant who taught him every breathing and sound to the Hindi language.
  4. Almost till 1581 Akbar prayed five times a day then gave up.
  5. Nothing like Fathpur sikri was ever created or can be created. its a romance in stone (Smith book Page 345). The Petrification of a passing mood in Akbar's Strange Nature, begun and finished at lightning speed while that mood lasted, inconceivable and impossible at any other time or any other circumstances
  6. Tansen became Muslim and was buried in Muslim holy ground
