Akbar Indeed was a Great King and exceptionally talented, shrewd. Does that mean we need to Put him in a pedestal next to GOD and consider all others inferior to him.

All what Akbar achieved during his reign cannot be just because of him. He needs capable, able smart people around him and who worked hard along with him and struggled and suffered with him. Their Hard work needs to be appreciated as well.

After reading that Vincent Smith book, I have great respect for Akbar but at the same time he had many many negatives too. I read about Maharana Pratap and his struggles and I respect him a lot and consider very highly of him and probably I love him more . Same goes to many many others.

Sindhu i totally agree. .There is absolutely no need to put jalal on pedestal. .he had many negatives. .as i told you I am reading mehieval India papers by renouned Aligarh Muslim university historians and none put him on pedestal. .remember how jalal secretly got Kamran"sonly lliving son poisoned. .how he made mountains of head after Gujarat victory? Sindhu no doubt jalal got many victories and no doubt he was liberal in later years of his life and for this he should be thoroughly but what about economic conditions. .reforms were failing big time and there was wide spread poverty. .what did jalal do to uplift economic conditions of ppl..i do not find many such laws. .mind you i am not belittling jalal but I won't give him undue credit either. .Pratap was a man who will always be respected. .even Jalal's rise could not eclipse him..

This is not completely true. :)

Though, Khusrau is blamed for hatching a conspiracy to assassinate Salim, and they say that after this attempt only Khusrau was blinded.

But the story is not so simple...Salim's life was attempted by--

1. Father of Nur Jahan - Itmad-ud-daula,
2. brother of Nur Jahan - Muhammad Sharif
3. And 3 other persons...

Before this conspiracy also there was a charge on Nur Jahan'a father - Itmad-ud-daula for embezzlement and fraud of approx. "fifty thousand hindustani rupee"..

Initially, Salim had ordered for the execution of all the above 5 people...

But later, he spared Itmad-ud-daula , and got the above 4 people executed...The blame of hatching murder conspiracy was put up on Khusrau, and he was blinded...

As per what i have read, Khusrau was made a scape goat in this... And since the begums would not have allowed his execution he was blinded that too not in Agra but in Lahore/Kabul, back way to Agra..

Well he might have been made a scape goat but he was blinded on this charge only. .Salim should not have done it. .conspiracy was brought in open by khurram

Khurram killed khusaro in 1622 and then revolted against the power of Noor in court. .any way tuzuk's preface says salim died a sad and broken man..
