^^ Yeps, it certainly is Arun Govil - and methinks you are thinking of Saawan Ko Aane Do, in which he was indeed really nice - they got the right actor, just wish they got him a tiny bit earlier than they did... alrighty laters hun, it was fun having you!! Lol, that was reaction initially too. First time I watched Ramayan, I had to get into Aranya Kand before Arun grew on me.😆 Entire time, I was thinking....why'd they choose a 30 year old Ram when he was supposed to be 16 by the time of Vanvaas and 15 during Swayamvar/Vivah?😳😳😆 I guess it was his acting which really made me his fan. It was very soothing and calm, and his voice too was something I'd imagine Ramji to have. But yes, Deepika as Sita was perfectly suited to the role, as well as Sunil as Lakshman and Dara as Hanuman.👏

Looking at it from an unbiased critique POV, I'd say ages of actors is very important too to make an impact on people. See, NDTV made another mistake. They made Kaikeyi and Sumitra soooooo young that they didn't look like SUMS' MILs at all but sisters.😆 But in terms of Ram, they did choose a younger actor. I think the age was what attracted people to Gurmeet, as people like to see someone young as Ram (esp during beginning episodes) and you cannot really blame them.😉

But that is leaving characterizations aside, because once we bring that in, the characterization RS gave Ram wins so much over the characterization AS did. I think that is also one of the main reasons I prefer Arun over Gurmeet if we must compare them (which I don't like doing because of past experience😆). Characterization of Ram in RS Ramayan was how I always imagined Ram, while the characterization AS gave Ram was more like Krishna, because Ram was not supposed to be teasing joking type like AS sometimes portrayed him to be, he'd have been a perfect Krishna characterization.

For me, I take both ages and characterizations when I critique a serial or movie based on mythos. Characterization is more important out of the two, but age is also important. It is why, though I really appreciate Arun in the role and love his characterization, I cannot call him 100% perfect for the role yet, I think Sunil, Dara Singh, Deepika, Bal Dhuri, and Mulraj Rajda were best chosen because both the ages and characterizations fit spot on.👏

So if you're going to ask me for the perfect Ram in mythos, I'd say he still has to come. For me, no perfect Ram has been shown yet. Someone with Gurmeet's age, Arun's acting, and RS's Ram characterization would be perfect.😉😆 Oh, and also someone who is handsome and gorgeous like Ram is described to be (don't be mad at me peoples, but neither Gurmeet nor Arun fit that image, hehe).😆 That's prob asking too much though, because no human can be as handsome as Ram can he?🤓

Deepika satisfied me for Sita, but when it comes to Ram, I admit that I am double critical because Ram's beauty is eulogized in Ramayan sooooooooooooooooo many times, the image of a super handsome man who dazzles everyone (God, I make him sound like Edward Cullen🤣) kind of sticks, ya know?

I totally understand where you guys are coming from and if I hadn't been seeing Arun play Shri Ram since I was infant, I would probably agree. But... I did, so I am so prone to visualizing it only that way that I'd have the authors change Shri Ram's age before having RS change Arun 😆 j/k... seriously though, Janu's right - once you get far enough into it, the way RS wrote the characters - all of them - makes every actor fit to the T regardless of first impressions. The magic's in the writing.

Of course, living with a serial since infanthood does have its impact.😃 I didn't see Ramayan till I was 16 or 17 so I was critical with it like I am with other mythos, from characterization to age to setting to story, everything. RSji's Ramayan passed in almost every aspect, except for the ages of a few actors here and there. You know how much I love Arun and Sanjay as Ram and Bharat, but I did wish RSji had chosen someone a bit younger, because all 4 brothers were only months apart, but Sunil looked the youngest out of them and Sanjay the oldest.😆

But in the end of the day, writing is what matters the most, even more than the ages (which is why, though Guru fits the age better than Arun, RSji's characterization of Ram far surpassed AS's), which is why Ramayan was made enjoyable for every age group when it was first telecasted, and even yet has so many fans.

No, I totally agree with you *throws phool* lol..especially inthese points above...I feel gurmeet was a perfect ram to play only if his character could've been touched up...the laksman i've seen in this newer ramayan seems to go on an angry camper rant every 2 secs...

but upon getting the perfect ram yes he is yet to ocme..and idoubt there is one..b/c in our minds we know how gracious and beautiful/handsome ram issuppose to be and obviously no common man can fit the bill..b u t if we were to mix gurmeet and arun together they might've done the trick... gurmeet's face really does look like it belongs in amythological poster or something.. and yes arun's voice is damnn soothing! even when he was distressed he sounded soo nice lol

i feel gurmeet and debina are wonderful to play ram-sita..although debi is a beautiful acteress and her expressions were lovely her dialouge delievery could use some help Ermm

and o m g i thought i was the only one who thought kaikeyi n sumitra were too young to play mothers and what not rofl..

and ghoom phir ke i will go back to my fav serial of the moment: meera

the girl who played little meera could've given any of those ramayan ppl a tough competition! she made meera come to life, literally! even the lady who played meera when se was older played it convincingly..prolly theonly mytho show i liked all the actors.. [bhojraj :( ] ...and lolita was good too.. i feel bad for lolita as she gave up her entire life for meera :( ... [bhojraj :( ] ... rofl..let me stop now before i cry about bhojraj every 2 secs lol

oh and i don'tknow if you guys have seen..but do watch the saibaba seriers..its good as well..sad :S ..im not sure of the actors [im sure that helps loads ] rofl..but it was good, remember me watching when i was young...

i was just thinking , if they made a bolly ramayan..who would fit as ram? l o l... insult to our devta's let me not even begin..
