Wow, love your point on how Gurmeet's face/age, Arun's voice, and RS's characterization would make the perfect Ram.👏 Arun really did have a nice voice, it made us cry along with him during the missing Sita scenes.🥺 I think that was Arun Govil's best feature that made Ram come alive in him for so many people: his voice. Many people don't think so, but voices have such an impact on people. If they ever showed Ram with a squeaky voice now, would people be able to sit with a straight face even if he had the most handsome face ever?😆 And you're right that Gurmeet had that Kaanti which belongs in mythological posters. I think we are often biased against him because of our partiality to Arun, but taking away the whole AS Ramayan faults from him, just by judging him from looks alone, he'd have made an excellent Ram had someone like Ramanand Sagar directed his character as Ramji.

And you're also right and no one can be the 'perfect Ram', because Lord Ram is a divine character, a God among men...no human can do justice to his looks....but the best directors can do is choose someone at least half way fitting to the description.😆

And you're right that Debina was pretty as Sita and her chemistry with Guru was really sweet, but her dialogue delivery (esp in the beginning) really was off. The SUMS moments seemed really forced and uncomfortable for all of them. She improved later on though, towards the end of the serial.

Lols, I never liked the Kaikeyi and Sumitra actors in new Ramayan. The former grinned waaaay too much (Lola and I had a discussion on this, lols😆), almost as if she was Barney's advocate for "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family"🤣, while Sumitra underracted and just didn't show expression at times. Kaushalya was not that great either, but much better than the other too. She seemed bored with her role at times, but overall she was so much more bearable than Sumitra and Keikeyi.

I think the best 'mother' was the lady who played Devi Sunaina, Janakji's wife. She did well, and she also looked the correct age.

Oh, and another one of my favs from new Ramayan is the guy who played Vibhishan. His dialogye delivery was really well and his facial expressions were spot on. That could have been because he had mytho experience playing Dushashan in BRC's Mahabharat though. Under the direction fo someone like BRC, Vibs prob came easy to him later on.😃

@ Jhanvi - Debi's dialogue delivery issues are a huge problem during the pre-wedding and early post-wedding epis, but after Sita Haran she starts to improve and then by Uttar Kand, she totally hits her stride and acts wonderfully... just hang tight :P
And couldn't agree more about Meera, esp little Meera - she was literally a child prodigy 👏👏👏👏👏 Like I almost NEVER cry watching stuff on tv and in movies... I laugh at crying scenes but that's another story... but whenever she cried, I cried and whenever one of those miracle moments like Krishna helping her like for example that pagdi epi, I cried... she got that pure and innocent devotion across perfectly, and she always still sounded like a kid - I hate when they make kids sound like grannies 😆

And yeah saw Saibaba too, the stories were beautiful but like you said, the acting... better left unsaid 😆 Btw the guy who played Saibaba was Sudama in Shri Krishna, when you get to it. And hmmmm Bolly Ramayan - Janu and I were discussing that yesterday, I voted Rani as Sita... or anyone other than Aish... but Ram is still virtually un-castable 😕On the spur of the moment, I'm gonna say... Imran Khan 😆 but not with Rani 🤔 hmmm... but there's no Ramanand Sagar to direct it, so no matter who they pick to be in it, it's not going to be "right". He could probably make a slice of bread act perfectly.

director: sanjay leela bhasali {obviously b/c of his grand sets}

costume designer: sabyasachi {manish malhotra would make kaikeyi look like a runway model rofl//sabyasachi's work is out of hte world..very ethnic looking}

Ram: *no one can take this role..but for zabardasti sake lets think..*

-Bharat Bhushan {can we rewind here?}

Sita: Dia Mirza {she has such an innocent alluring look to her}

Lakshman: Amir Khan? ROFL

Lols, nothing much, basically about how mythos don't have the perfect Ram yet, because Arun, while his characterization was perfect and his voice and acting were soothing, was too old to be Ram, and Gurmeet, while his age and looks were accurate, his acting was more like that of Shri Krishna's and his characterization was slightly off thanks to AS.😆

So far this is the conclusion Jhanvi, Lola, and I have come to:

Arun(acting & voice) + Gurmeet(looks and age) + RS's Ram characterization = mytho's ideal Ram

😆😆😆😆 You can throw in your own input.

Lols, don't ask about the random topic. We're bored and we're waiting for the forum, so we decided to satisty our Arun/Gurmeet comparisons here before they start in the forum. j/k😆😆😆

Lol we covered alternative (non-RS, non-BRC) mythos, compared the strengths and weaknesses of both Ramayans (though the old one barely has any), and are trying to figure out what it takes to be the perfect Ramji actor - no luck yet 😆
