Cold Sweet Cold

I remember the school days
The cold foggy mornings of December
Dew drops on the cars
Writing names on the windshield
Exhaling continuously, just to see
My breath blow before me
Stuffing fingers and hands
Into skirt pockets and sweater sleeves
Shivering from head to foot
Dreading sitting on the cold bus seat

Soon everyone is in the classroom
Rubbing hands, trying to warm up
Within an hour, the fog is gone
The sun is up, the weather is hot
Break time calls for fun and play
The sweaters lay forgotten...

As the day progresses
The air-conditioning takes effect
Sweaters are back on
Shivering from head to foot
Rubbing hands, trying to warm up
Waiting to get outside...

I miss, those cold sweet cold
Brief winter days

The why is blood black question deserves a learned answer... 😛
Venous blood is darker than arterial blood, because it deoxygenated. When blood is drawn for an examination, it will be picked from a vein. (They won't piuncture an artery to get the 5 ml blood that they need!) 🤓
Moreover, the colour of the blood will depend on the oxidation state of iron in Haemoglobin. People with a higher Hb will have darker venous blood than an anaemic person... 🤓

@Red, it was definitely venous blood bcoz it was being drawn for a blood test for my nephritis and also, I must say I have pretty high Hb count 😕 I have something around 15 gm/dL 😲
