RW ji, I guess I forgot to mention on this thread that I LOVE WINTERS and HATE SPRING/SUMMERS. I LOVE THE SNOW so much that I go for walks on the street in my flip-flops and a hoodie, when the weather department declares Severe Weather Alert 😃 I have done this at odd hours of the night in snow alone 😆 Bus main aur mera camera, aksar yeh batein karte hain...thodi snow aur hoti toh acha hota, 2-4 trees aur ukhad jate toh acha hota 😆

Edit #1
Did I ever tell u that I want to spend my winters in Alaska every year???
They have 1 month when there is no sun, and everyone gets to work from home the whole month...Its one full month of night 😉 Imagine how awesome that would be 😳

State Human Rights Commission has received complaint from one of the Social Welfare Organizations against this dance reality show for showing children in most obscene dances on club songs, item songs.
As a viewer of some episodes i really appreciate this act.
In every episode end they show kids and parents crying for getting elimination.
Most of the kids talk beyond their age which really bothers me.
I love competitive spirit among the kids but not this way.
In personal i am a mom of 2yrs old(that's the main reason for my inactiveness in this form😉)
And i will never allow my kid to watch this type of shows for the fear of her acting beyond her age😲

Hey Amy 🤗

U know, there was a time when i LOVED kids like anything, but now I HATE..well HATE is still small, u can say I LOATHE kids and all thanks to this show...and the little Geetika kid on it 😡
Disclaimer: I don't watch this show, but I was tricked into watching this girl's performances by my roomies 😡

@Reality Shows and Kids, Our media industry needs to ask their brains to cut-short their vacation and return home

Hmmm, but such shows are so much prevalent in India. I think the kids should just be kids. Some parents push their kids too hard, because it can be a good source of income. It's important to let the kids be kids. We need more awareness for the parents of kids participating in such shows. It should be discouraged, IMO.

@Aladin 🤗 And yes...Kids should be kids. They should cry n crib in the morning to go to school, attend classes, come back home, finish HW in the afternoon, play in the evening and sleep happily. I wish we all could go back to the Island of Atlantis forever 😃

I notice how politically incorrect some of our movies are, things I wouldn't have realized before.
and kids are maturing way faster than in our time...so much information is accessible freely, how do you control it.
The bullying in US school disturbs me ,but the competition in India gives me nightmares,I mean parents compete through their kids, they are pushing them into more and more activities..

and kids reality shows...less said the better.

@Red, probably they found the Elixir of Age 😲
@Blue, bullying is prevalent in India too, and so is competition in the United States It's all about finding the right school and environment for the kids. There are some very good schools in India too, and some worst schools too. We have liberal/supportive parents and competitive parents too.

If I had to choose, I'd actually choose the system in India. Whatever happens in the US school gives me nightmares about raising kids here. Though, the competition is cut throat back in India, but kids still get to do things which kids do. Some parents do go to all extremes, so I wouldn't want to do that either. I don't particularly like the system here. I prefer the schooling back home, or if you can afford it here, at private schools. Public school system here gives me nightmares to be honest. The stories of bullying, etc. does not help.

I seriously don't know what system I like, both are equally flawed 😕 I would rather send my kids to my "Alma Mater" bcoz I then won't have to worry about what kind of a person my kid will turn out to be, all I have to do is go look at myself in the mirror. I know where I have gone wrong, and I can correct those while my kids are growing up 😃

How many kids actually end up having a proper education here? The drop out rate is unbelievably high. It depends a lot on the parents as well. I don't find the US edcuational system good, at least in the public schooling system.

In India, it depends. I spend quite a few hours in playing, but I used to study too. We had a fixed timetable, LOL. I dunno, I find that some discipline is important to have. 😳😳

High percentage of drop-outs is more to do with parents and family conditions, in IMO.
How many kids will start dropping-out of school if we had a similar family structure in India???

@Fixed Timetables...😆 Yes, even we had fixed timetables but for playing, watching TV and sleeping 😉 We have a fixed timetable even now. My mom wakes us up by 6 in the morning and sends us out to play even now when we are at home for vacation, and we won't get breakfast after 9 which means we have to take bath before 9 on a vacation 😲

It's a forbidding thought. I know some people really push their kids too hard. Still, I prefer the system. Most kids do end up with good and sound education, as compared to here. I don't like either of the extremes, and it is a forbidding thought.

@Red, agreed, but majority of our kids end up lacking an inquisitive nature I have come across Board Toppers and Entrance Exam Rank Holders, but they lack basic logical/analytical sense...all they know is cram their books and vomit it. I feel the Indian Education system is going down the lane. I like the new concept of Vedic Mathematics getting famous everywhere...its an innovative way of learning maths, but the lack of importance to Literature and Languages in higher grades turns me off.

@Nitz, those kids and their parents need (psychiatric)help😕

what about kids commiting suicide because they flunked an exam, that is way more common in India. So much so you have dedicated suicide helplines for kids.
Its so common aroung the boards that we don't even bother about it.

It's called peer-pressure and family-pressure 😡

@Smita, suicide rates are high in India, but the conditions in other parts of the world is no better. United States has a high percentage of people who need help.
IMO, the reason for the growing unhappiness in the world is the advent of media into our day-to-day life. I don't recall having watched any reality show as a preteen, all I can remember is BQC...which was wonderful 😃 Today we have so many shows, and their successful winners, that now everyone wants to follow the same path. Same goes with entrance exams and other stuff. U top an exam, and u have so many ppl arnd u with cameras trying to take ur interviews. And then half of the city talks abt u...ppl just are getting more and more unhappy abt what they don't have...and this is all bcoz now they know that they dont have something that the other person has (i am confused now, i m sleepy 😕) Whatever the bottom-line is we were happy as long as we din't know what we lacked, but now that we know..we want it all, else we kill ourselves 😲

@RW JI, wish we had trainings for those things too...but alas we are in the 21st century where the so-called "Modern Man" has forgotten the basic principle of life - "Dignity of Labour"

Phew, finally done 😕

Edit #1
Since we are discussing about the schools and the pressure on kids, if and only if, u guys promise that u won't hit me for suggesting another movie....then I take the risk of suggesting "Paathshala" It's not the best movie of all times, neither is it the worst....it's just an OK movie that addresses similar issues, but let me warn u guys it has an abrupt ending, where everything happens pretty fast for a climax Another piece of advice, its not worth watching on the silver screen...so catch it online 😃

I like the snow too but being born and brought up in a desert country, my resistance to the cold is next to nil. When I tried making a snow ball in Shimla, my fingers refused to cooperate, snowman toh duur ki baat hai

@bold, 😲 Bechaare trees ne aap ka kya bigara?
And flip flops?? Don't you feel cold at all...? 😕

@Edit #1, I know... but you might want to NOT watch this film before going 😉😃

@Red, now I have 2-4 photos less
@Blue, nope I am immune to cold 😃 Ppl say when u have impure blood, u don't feel cold..which might be true (my blood is blackish, saw that when i went for my blood test last month)
@Movie, such things don't affect me much. The more I see such things, the more curious I grow 😆
@Lunch, sounds awesome...wish I was home to eat maa ke haath ka khana 😭

Continued @Red, on one of my such trips...I saw a big tree falling on a house and breaking it into half. It took place arnd 7 in the morning, and i stood there on the road clicking till late in the afternoon when the rescue team was finally done cutting the tree off and removed it from the house. Luckily there was just one guy in the house, who had just then come down to the basement for some reason 😃
