I was going through the posts and those lines got my eyes.. how wonderful perfect description of Helena...👏👏

Ranjana,

If there was a Nautanki No. 1 award, you would win it hands down!😆 You are one of a kind for dramebaazi!

The thing about that delightful comment of yours was that I found, by pure serendipity, exactly the right photo to complement it. If Anjali had come out with that 2 days later, I would have been sunk, for I am technologically challenged, and I do not know how to locate such photos. Without the visual take, readers would not been able to see how correct your summing up of The Look was.

Will be waiting for your re-emergence from Pluto's realm. It is a pity you have to disappear again, for you are one of the few around whose comments on Helena, and my paras about here, I would have very much liked to see. Oh, well, after you get back, maybe. I find her fascinating.

So I emerge from the bowels of the earth to check for PMs, and am thrilled to see that you've put up a fresh post :D Then I read the whole beautiful analysis ⭐️ When I reach the bottom, I see my half cent of a line has earned a special mention, which makes me react in the following manner:

Sorry, couldn't resist the temptation 😆 Yes, I promise, no more of this dramebaazi in the reply I hope to post upon my triumphant/crushed return 😆 Okay, a little dramebaazi may be expected 😉😆

Thank you, my dear auntyiii 🤗 Now I respectfully take your leave to go back to the netherworld 😈😆 Fare thee well until we meet again 🤗

Thank you, my little Mishti!

I have grown to like Helena an awful lot, and I am so pleased that so far, she has been developed carefully and with remarkable consistency. She is intelligent, strong-willed and clear-headed, and she wants what she wants, but she is not devious and deceitful, and she is supportive and loyal towards Chandra.

She does utter even a single word of mild reproach for the second failure, as many other women in her place would have done, but works hard to bring Chandra out of his crippling depression. That was one lovely scene, wasn't it? I cannot remember when I last watched something as appealing, and so beautifully scripted and performed.

I love your take on her, now in blue, especially the reference to her being the real nayi soch, which had not occurred to me. That is exactly what she is!

The bond between her and Chandra is so unusual and so natural. By now, they are almost like buddies; see the way he sticks her in front of the door of Durdhara's house and hides at the side!😆 Even when Durdhara hugs Chandra, Helena does not frown or look angry. She simply looks a little puzzled.

As to how Nandini will react when she learns the truth about daddy dearest, what I am waiting to see is how Shweta handles that scene. It would be like one of those real life stories where an excellent and devoted family man is exposed, 40 years after WW II, to have been a sadistic concentration camp SS officer.

That scene, which will be a very difficult one - even if, as is bound to be the case, Nand is already dead - will be the acid test of her ability as an actress. Rajat can turn himself inside out, and let his weaknesses all hang out without any hesitation, as he did in the riverside scene with Helena. We shall see if Shweta can do the same.

As for the abs show, which reminds me of Aamir in Ghajini, it looks impressive, and Rajat must have worked very hard to get it. . I have a son who is a fitness freak, so I am well up on these things!😉But frankly, I preferred Rajat by far in the get up he sported for the swayamwar. I am too old for all this stuff, Mishti!😆

Your force of nature phrase is a splendid one, and very apt too.

Another very thorough and sharp analysis Aunty 😊

I agree to your every point and observations made.

I loved Chandra's "Adam's apple bobbling" reaction in his wedding night scene...it was hilarious😆

As before I have said...I love Chandra-Helena chemistry and equation...and also the character of Helena is what truly is "nayi soch"..."God will help those, one who helps him/herself". She's not the girl with starry eyed waiting for her knight in shining armour, she is the one, who takes on her life reins and navigates it towards her goal. Helena here may be ambitious, revengeful or rather avengful, but she's not heartless...infact it is her emotions that had been wronged and thus, she takes her own responsibility and tries to do right by herself.

As against Nandini, who right now is symbolism of oppression and male chauvinism...her acceptance of life and situations refutes her so called advanced and moralistic thoughts.
She's just ANOTHER "wide eyed" lead heroine with lecture books to babble.

I would love to watch her crystal glass vision of her Pita Maharaja shatter to pieces and for Nand to be alive...but Alas!!!! promos already show it is not going to happen...what with expired dialogues about prem and all😡

The revelation about Chandra's origin could have been written better BUT his six-pack (or is it 8?) makes up for it...I mean oh!! my my 😳😳😳

After this revelation he will be fiercer than before because now he too will have an extremely personal angle to his vendetta for Nanda, like Chanakya and Helena...he'll be a force of nature to reckon with.

Your comments are always interesting, my dear Ria, but the best thing about them is that you often include references to famous Bengali writers and their best creations. This Somdutta sounds fascinating. How I wish I knew Bengali!

@bold... aunty, i do agree on that part... when i saw shweta in the very first promo I must say that i was quite impressed with the way she was represented...a shrewd lady with revengeful mind who wanted to get revenge from his husband. I had to confess that her over all presentation reminds me of a imaginary woman character from my one of the most fav historical story, Mrita Pradip (the clay lamp)... the female protagonist of that story, named Somdutta has been always been one of my fav female characters... She was shrewd, manipulative beauty but a faithful duty bound daughter of her father... everything which I admire in a character... the traits of true strong lady... who held her head high till the very end... (Sorry, my excitement took over whenever I talk about that story😆)... the best thing was that writer didn't tried to whitewash somdutta... She was very well aware about her father's whereabouts when she entered in enemy king Chandragupta's territory as her father's spy.(the story was set in early time of gupta dynasty..)... thats what i truly admire about her character that she was not plain STUPID or blind in her father's love... she was helping her father as a dutiful daughter but she was well aware about right and wrong..

Ohh how much I presume that Nandini is going to be Somdutta version 2!!.. I knew very well that having high hopes from EK story was not at all good... even I didn't have.. but at least expected Nandini not to be ignorant and blind in her father's love...When it comes to actual story what i saw... naa, Nandini is unaware of her father's true face and that leads to her hate towards Chandra for killing her father... In plain word Nandini's character was totally white washed... but if Nandini was gived a bit of maturity and true to say a bit of grey shades and shrewdness like helena then her character would get a different dimension and more interesting to watch..

And well I do hope that her character scketch improves... yes its true that professional actors had capability to act beyond script and draw the limelight but we are both experienced that how can a bad characterization and shaky script makes even an excellent actor look marred...

Hi Auntie,
I hope I'm not troubli g you with my little question.
In last episode we saw chandra Helena behaving as a couple.
I noted a few characteristics of Helena.
Chandra is a very spontaneous person while Helena rarely lets her guard down.
While durdhara and chandra seem to be very easy and transparent people Helena very inquisitive like... Examines their dialogue though as a keen participant.
She's not treacherous but she has her own priorities sorted out in her mind.
For example if chandra drops the plan to win over magadh... What will she do?
Just what she did to her father... Got him defeated by deceit acting as an informer?
What will she do if chandra doesn't settle to any of her wishes?in future?

Both are full of revenge... It's revenge which is uniting them..
What next?

Your views please... I'm unable to figure it out
P. S as you said she's deriving the benefits from the deal of marriage... What if the benefits are curtailed in future.?
I'm sure she has assessed how simpleton durdhara is so when chandra marries her she takes it as okay...

Of course, Arijit, I am well aware of that danger. Still, there is no harm in being pleased with something so fresh and appealing, is there, instead of thinking of what lies ahead and spoiling the fun now?

And then there will be two wohs, not just one!

Now this, my dear Pakhi, is a very interesting set of questions. Of course I cannot predict what the writers will do with Helena in the future, but going by what she had been shown to be thus far, let me try and answer your queries. My comments are in blue.

Hi Auntie,
I hope I'm not troubli g you with my little question.
In last episode we saw chandra Helena behaving as a couple.
I noted a few characteristics of Helena.
Chandra is a very spontaneous person while Helena rarely lets her guard down.

No, my dear, Chandra is spontaneous only with Durdhara, as he has known her under circumstances, during his abused childhood, when she was the only pleasant thing in his life. He is not spontaneous with anyone else. In fact Chanakya has raised him to be suspicious of everyone around, and rightly so. Chandra hardly talks to anyone bar those two pals of his, and very little even to them; he is very withdrawn.

In fact, in the matter of communicativeness, Chanakya, Helena and Chandra are all pretty much alike. None of them ever lets his/her guard down, except during that silly babbling by Chandra to Nandini masquerading as a daasi.

While durdhara and chandra seem to be very easy and transparent people Helena very inquisitive like... Examines their dialogue though as a keen participant.

They are easy and transparent between themselves, that is all. Not in general

As for Helena, why would she not do that? Put yourself in her place. She knows nothing of Chandra's past, especially about any women in his life. Now, she may not be emotionally involved with him, but she is his wife and a degree of possessiveness goes with that position. Of course she will try and assess Chandra's chummy relationship with this new girl. Would you not do that in her place?

It is to her credit that when Durdhara falls on Chandra's neck - which was rather odd in that era, even if they had been childhood friends - Helena does not frown. She merely looks a little startled, as well she might!

She's not treacherous but she has her own priorities sorted out in her mind.
For example if chandra drops the plan to win over magadh... What will she do?
Just what she did to her father... Got him defeated by deceit acting as an informer?

Defeated by whom? By Magadha or by Malayaketu? That is a non starter, for she hates both.
And how would her getting Chandra defeated by someone else help her get closer to her goal of revenge against Malayaketu?

One has also to remember that Chandra has struck a deal with her, they are partners. She got him her father's army, he has to get her Malayaketu at her feet He will never welsh on that deal. So the whole idea is inconceivable.

What will she do if chandra doesn't settle to any of her wishes?in future?

I think she will try and persuade him, and if he can convince her that what she wants is not feasible, as with her desire to join in the fighting, she will drop the idea. As of now, she does not seem to want anything but to get Malayaketu destroyed.

If it is something else for which her desire is visceral, though what that could be I cannot imagine, she could go her own way to get it. Depends on how their relationship develops

Both are full of revenge... It's revenge which is uniting them..
What next?

Empire building.Helena will enjoy that. And being married partners will become a habit that soon smoothens out the rough edges. For both.

Your views please... I'm unable to figure it out
P. S as you said she's deriving the benefits from the deal of marriage... What if the benefits are curtailed in future.?
The benefit is really becoming the Queen of Magadha, for she would have got her revenge even without marrying Chandra. How can anyone curtail that rank? She will always remain the seniormost queen.

I'm sure she has assessed how simpleton durdhara is so when chandra marries her she takes it as okay..
We do not know anything about Durdhara as yet, Pakhi, Don't be too quick to give her a character certificate!😉
