Why should we run for cover? We should wait and see how the Mura-Helena combine pans out and how they try to instil some commonsense in Chandra's mastishk.

But I have no hopes of this show being watchable beyond about 200-250 episodes, depending on the kind of side tracks they introduce. That was about when Jodha Akbar went to the dogs, and here , I simply do not see what they plan to show once the empire building is more or less over.

If Nandini continues to act at the present level, the demise of the show, from my point of view, will come even faster.

Tejaswini it is good that both of us are of the same mind. I have added a postscript to my previous post. Please do look up whenever you are free. The spectacle you described is swimming before my eyes. I feel if such a calamity is going to befall CN, would it not be better to run for cover before that?

Thank you Aunty! I loved this take very much. As regards age, I am thirty. So I am assuming that most of the members here are younger to me.

I liked @blue a lot here, Shailaja.

Passionate love is mostly a roller coaster affair which brings more misery, on the average, than sustained happiness. It is also unsustainable after some time. And it is nowhere near as common as it is made out to be. Most folks are in love with the idea of love, not with a person.

As for Nandini, she just shot off the decency meter tonight, not to speak of the scale for measuring the kindness and compassion for which she is so often praised. She was downright vicious.

I have been making the very same points about Helena ever since her character was introduced. Betraying your country for your selfishness, and betraying somebody else's imperialistic ambitions of conquest (Alexander's dream of conquering India) for the sake of your own ambitions or priorities are two different things. You can't judge both these decisions on the same scale of justice. It would be erroneous to do so.

Similarly, after Alexander's death, Helena just took a calculated risk. She knew its implications and outcome. But it is really surprising that she took this leap of faith on Chandra after a very short acquaintance with him. Perhaps it shows the extent to which Chandra's character and personality was able to inspire confidence and trust in her. She seems to have been ready to willingly throw in her lot with Chandra.

I still find it problematic why people think two individuals come together because they love each other. Love is not the only thing under the Sun which makes a personal equation between two people worth their while. At times, you would prize that relationship which gives inner peace to your troubled soul and fills the wounds that time and circumstance have caused by the soothing balm of comfort, care and affection.

Such a relationship is much better than an angst-ridden or poisonous and suffocating kind of love. Chandra and Helena give each other this inner peace, happiness and comfort with themselves. They care for each other and soothe the wounds of one another with the balm of solace.
A relationship which keeps you balanced and grounded and is your secure anchor in life, isn't it as good as a relationship of love or in some cases even better than a relationship of love?

PS: I too can visualize that Durdhara cheerleading scene of Nandini and encouraging her because she is the best for Chandra... The whole thought is nauseating even to think. I hope Moora teams up with Helena whenever these twosome indulge in such stupidity. I hope by then, even Chandra is not chump enough in his love for Nandini to forget whatever Helena has done for him and start neglecting or disregarding her. And this girl Nandini I really hope she spares us her sermons which she has already I presume started working out in her pea-sized brain which seems entirely taken up with cockscrew curls to leave very little place for intellect, logic or sense. She just bulldozes her way forward.

I am not very sure about Durdhara either, and not just because she is almost sure to become Nandini's chamchi. How do we know she is telling the truth about that unpleasant groom she says her father is getting for her? I found that very difficult to believe. It might just as well be an astute lie meant to force Chandra's hand and get him to agree to marry her. I might be overly cynical, but that spiel of hers sounded very odd to me.

Not disappointed, my dear Ranjana, which is something I never could be with you! Besides, I really enjoyed what you did come up with. It was most entertaining, especially the bit about the standard issue suhaag raat. 😆

But I do want your views on Helena. Before you dish them out for my delectation, do read the posts by Shailaja and Tejaswini in the 2/3 pages before this one. They are fascinating.

Take care, my dear, and do not let the work get you down.

@sashashyam - Dear aunty, your comments drag me back even when I try to stay away from this site 😆I'm typing this from a rickshaw, so please forgive any errors.

Aunty, my views on prem, soul mates and marriage - be it in this century or a thousand years ago - are more cynical than that of a woman who has endured ten lifetimes of marital misery😆😆. Believe me, I was joking when I wrote every woman aspires to be a man's soul mate😆. And it was something of a black comedy wala joke 💔😆

I'm sorry my post disappointed you :( but honestly, I hadn't meant for my post to be considered a reply to your analysis. Your mention of Helena induced a bout of mental diarrhea in me😆 and josh mein aake I jotted down whatever I remembered of the thoughts that had passed through my mind while watching those scenes😆. The actual comment related to your analysis will hopefully be posted after I complete my work and am at peace😳. Filhaal, my mind is like an Indian railway station before the departure of several long-distance trains🤪. As for my way of looking at those scenes, I'm helpless. Until early last year, I used to invest some thought into the characters I watched onscreen. But I've lost that ability now. Ab I mostly look at a character through the lens of "What was going on in the script-writer's mind while writing this?" 🤔😆 Yes, it is a very drab and joyless way of watching a show 😆 To snap out of that mode, I have to follow a show for some time, and it helps greatly if the writing is sharp over a sustained period. Then I can forget everything and focus on the characters. Otherwise, all I think is - Could they have written this scene in some other way? Used some better dialogues? Blah blah blah 🥱🥱 Yes, my mind is a tiresome place😆. Perhaps I'll be able to give some rational takes on the characters after I watch some more episodes *fingers crossed*

@Disha - Hey darling, your username is unfamiliar, but your real name does strike a chord :) Thank you for the sweet words 😳🤗

Aunty in all these pages of Bengali Adda and Chandra and Helena relationship takes you seem to have missed my take on why Durdhara is both near the Charwaha couple in Magadh and also near Taxilla where Chandra's Gurukul is, and near places formerly under Greek control so as to be available to help Chandra in escaping from the Greek army by providing a hiding place.

I presume my prediction regarding the Rajneetic Labh of marrying Durdhara was somewhat similar to what I had proposed. Though I think Durdhara reinforces it by asking Chandra to agree to her father's proposal for her sake too because in case he refuses to marry her, she will be married off by the Mukri clone to somebody who is a wife-beater and completely unsuitable for her. So I think I can party today!

Coming back to the original agenda, I am explaining how she could be in both places, in Magadh and Taxilla as well:
"Now I know you will be behind me with a hatchet for this stupid and ludicrous suggestion on what to make out of Durdhara being near the Charwaha couple's house in Magadh and also within running distance of Greek ruled areas in Taxilla to help Chandra in hiding from the Greek troops after he is caught. Durdhara is an heiresss. She has two big houses or bungalows. One is a summer house in Magadh, and the other is a winter house, her Nani's ancestral house near Taxilla. She retires to this place every winter. So during winter vacations, she and Chandra occasionally meet up there as it is very near to his Gurukul. Howzaat?"

Yes, wisdom about her father's character is dropping from the sky as apples and apples, and this girl, Nandini, a Reverse Combination of Newton and Einstein put together, does not wonder why apples are not going up and are rather coming down towards the earth. She has an entirely new perspective on the theory of falling apples.

These apples are her Pitha Maharaj's enemies. They are targeting him and trying to hurt him by falling on him. Being the dutiful daughter she is, she will catch all those apples of wisdom before they fall and have a milkshake made out of them.

She never wonders about every action having an equal and opposite reaction. She wonders why should there be a reaction to an action at all. So she stops acting or reacting to anything under the implicit hope and confidence that her stupidity is going to save her Pitha Maharaj.

Einstein says that everything in this universe including space and time are relative. They keep changing. It is a continuum! This girl thinks that Pitha Maharaj is my relative. Since I cannot change him, I will change truth, space, and time for him. Somebody said that they are all relative. 'So if they are all relative, why can't they change according to me' concludes this cockscrewed lady with a screwed brain!
