I need to be able to convince myself that something is just a story for me to enjoy it, otherwise I'm a total mess. (8-year-old me was genuinely terrified by OG Bhool Bhulaiya!)

I've also had audiobooks freak me out sometimes, but that could've been because I was listening to them in the middle of the night, or while walking home when the streets feel like a ghost town.

My favourite thing was how much Penn Badgley hated Joe and the way people were romanticizing him.

I also feel scared if I watch scary horror movies even though I don't believe in ghosts. Still I really enjoy watching horror movies. smiley36 I didn't get scared of Bhool Bhoolaiyaa though. There wasn't any ghost in the movie. It was about dissociative identity disorder. I think you got scared because you were a child. I was much older than you when I watched Bhool Bhoolaiyaa.

Hinna, I've a question. If I DNF a book, I need to write the actual page numbers from the paperback of that book. Am I right?

Are there any specific queer books that y'all are planning to read this month? Or even the ones that are on your tbr even if you're not necessarily going to read them this month?

You're reading a physical copy? If yes, you can use the pages of that book.

Yes, I'm reading a physical copy. I'm not completely sure whether I'll DNF or not. But there's high chance that I may DNF the book. That's because I'm not liking it very much. Thank you for the answer.

I've read two so far that are part of an ongoing M/M hockey romance series. I plan to read the last book in the Divorced Men's Club series, but I'm going to put it off until the end of the month because I don't think I'll be able to read anything after that one.

Books I hope to get to, but nothing's set in stone because you should never trust a word I say:

  • Out of Uniform series by Annabeth Albert (Book 3-7)
  • Where Sleeping Girls Lie by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé (definitely a queer book, just not a romance/relationships are secondary since it's a mystery, but I think Faridah's good at sprinkling in romantic elements to her mysteries and thrillers)
  • Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite - fantasy anthology series with a number of lgbt couples, by multiple authors (V.E. Schwab has a short story in here that was adapted into a Netflix show - First Kill, which was cancelled after one season smiley19)
  • Doing a re-read of Casey McQuiston's backlist because I saw on Twitter that they're starting production for the Red, White and Royal Blue sequel!!!
  • There Are Things I Can't Tell You by Edako Mofumofu - not being logged since it's a manga, but I'm always looking for manga/anime with positive queer representation
  • Malice Duology by Heather Walter, aka I have to re-read Malice in order to read Misrule and hopefully it doesn't destroy me as much the second time around, because when I first read Malice three years ago, it put me out of commission for like 2-3 weeks (it's a sapphic Sleeping Beauty retelling, beautifully written!!)
  • Finally read the Burning Kingdoms trilogy by Tasha Suri because I'm delusional
  • Finish Fake Boyfriend #3 by Eden Finley because I got through like half of it back in March, and then stopped reading and didn't feel like picking it back up (also read Fake Boyfriend #5, even though I really don't want to)

Books I do want to read this month but probably won't log for Pride

  • The Gilded Wolves trilogy by Roshani Chokshi - there are queer characters in these books, but the romance isn't big factor and the queer couple's definitely more of a side pairing (please keep in mind that I first book like three years ago, it changed my life, and then I didn't finish the trilogy)
  • The Shadow Game trilogy by Amanda Foody - our main male character is bi, but his sexuality is only mentioned once and never really talked about again (from what I've heard)

Oh wow! Those are a lot. I didn't know about a few of these so thanks for piling on my tbr lol. I am planning to finally read Lotus Empire too. I haven't read it cause I don't want this trilogy to end but yeah the Burning Kingdoms is definitely one of the best fantasies I've read. I hope Lotus Empire is a worthy finale cause the first two books were banger.

I've read all of CMQ but for some reason never really liked any of their books other than RWRB much. Like they're okay but not too great imo. After RWRB I'd say I Kissed Shara Wheeler is their second best but One Last Page & The Pairing were kinda drags for me.

I also did love First Kill and I'm so bummed it got canceled esp cause s1 ended on a cliffie. Netflix rlly needs to do better when it comes to sapphic shows.

Also, is Malice good? I saw so much chatter when it first released but didn't see much after that so I thought it was your typical overhyped book.

I read Gilded Wolves so long ago when it first came out but never got around to any of the sequels even tho I did love the first book. Mayhaps a re-read is in order!

Currently I am reading the Legend of Meneka and that seems rlly promising. I've only read the first couple chapters so far but mc is definitely bi, maybe pan. I've heard rlly good things about it so I'm very excited!

Okay, now I'm really excited to get into Burning Kingdoms!! I think I tried reading Jasmine Throne a couple years back, but I just don't think I was in a fantasy mood then. There's just something about sapphic epic fantasies that hit for me, I think it's why I loved Malice so much. I didn't think it was overhyped at all, I actually think it's a very underrated book, but maybe that's just because I only saw one person talking about it and that's how I found it. (If we're talking overhyped books though, Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron was such a disappointment.)

Yeah, super unpopular opinion, but I think RWRB might be my least fave CMQ book. I initially gave it five stars, but each time a I re-read it, I like it less and less. I've read I Kissed Shara Wheeler twice, and I ADORE that book. I might have to re-read One Last Stop again because I forgot everything about that book.

I think Roshani Chokshi deserves a lot more hype in general for her writing, like, I really wish Gilded Wolves blew up more!

@bold: I didn't want to say Netflix hates lesbians, but with the way I can't think of a single sapphic show that hasn't been cancelled by them, it's hard not to feel that way.

@bold: Whoops, would you look at that, just added another book to my TBR. smiley36
