There's just something about sapphic epic fantasies that hit for me, I think it's why I loved Malice so much. I didn't think it was overhyped at all, I actually think it's a very underrated book, but maybe that's just because I only saw one person talking about it and that's how I found it. (If we're talking overhyped books though, Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron was such a disappointment.)

Yeah, super unpopular opinion, but I think RWRB might be my least fave CMQ book. I initially gave it five stars, but each time a I re-read it, I like it less and less. I've read I Kissed Shara Wheeler twice, and I ADORE that book. I might have to re-read One Last Stop again because I forgot everything about that book.

I think Roshani Chokshi deserves a lot more hype in general for her writing, like, I really wish Gilded Wolves blew up more!

@bold: I didn't want to say Netflix hates lesbians, but with the way I can't think of a single sapphic show that hasn't been cancelled by them, it's hard not to feel that way.

@bold: Whoops, would you look at that, just added another book to my TBR. smiley36

I liked First Kill. But I heard negative reviews. It received a lot of negative reviews. I can recall that one YouTuber said the VFX wasn't very good. Another YouTuber said there wasn't depth in the characters. He also said that the story was predictable. Someone said dialogues weren't great. Maybe it got cancelled because it received several negative reviews. Even though I like First Kill, I think the initial episodes were more interesting. It became slightly boring at the end. But that's my opinion. Some people may think differently. Netflix's gay love story, Heartstopper is quite popular, and there are 3 seasons of that show. But the difference between these 2 shows is that Heartstopper is based on a graphic novel series. So, a lot of source materials are available for that show. But on the other hand, First Kill is based on a short story, and it doesn't have source materials for more seasons. So, it can be another reason for cancelling this show. These are all guesses. I'm not completely sure.

But getting negative reviews shouldn't be the only reason to cancel a show. Right now, Netflix's hugest show is Bridgerton and not one season has received glowing reviews from everyone. Someone or the other is always posting negative reviews for every season that also go viral. In fact, s3 got so much negative publicity, yet the show was renewed for s5&6 without s4 even premiering. So, it's not like Netflix doesn't renew shows with bad reviews.

The issue is also that they never ever promoted First Kill the way they should have. In fact, I remember barely any promo for the show at all, before and after it started streaming. I found out about the show because of a fanmade poster cause I think Netflix never even announced the show on their official handle properly. With such lazy marketing, it was always doomed right from the start. 🤷

I agree, there was no promo for the show! I think I only started watching First Kill after I saw someone posting about it on Twitter.

Actually there was a trailer on the YouTube channel of Netflix. I saw it. I clearly remember. That's how I came to know about it. Also, I said these are guesses. Reason can be something else.

"Trying to picture myself as a teenage girl is like staring at the sun, too bright to see, and it hurts."

This line beautifully captures the emotions of a transgender person.

Hello guys,

Just a reminder that the month is almost over. Please remember to update your logs by Monday midnight and include your total number of pages so I can add them to the first post.
