Yeah miscommunication trope isn't my favorite but if it's balanced with quirky humour, I'm willing to give it a try.

Also, I'm okay with no/ minimal spice as long as the plot hooks me in!

Yeah, imo this was the very definition of what I'd consider a "young adult" book. Feeling awkward, unsure, frustrated, not knowing what you really want or what you're doing, dealing with parents' expectations (esp considering this is an Asian household), making friends, falling in love, social media... all the shit that comes with growing up. It's told in the voice of the ML, and he's the living definition of "he's confused but he's got the spirit" gave off golden retriever vibes at times

Pls book gods, lend your blessings to this book and let this get sorted within the next 5 pages. It was so good till now. Yeah sure she was a bit wonky at the beginning, but she was panicking.
