Yeah miscommunication trope isn't my favorite but if it's balanced with quirky humour, I'm willing to give it a try.

Yeah, imo this was the very definition of what I'd consider a "young adult" book. Feeling awkward, unsure, frustrated, not knowing what you really want or what you're doing, dealing with parents' expectations (esp considering this is an Asian household), making friends, falling in love, social media... all the shit that comes with growing up. It's told in the voice of the ML, and he's the living definition of "he's confused but he's got the spirit" gave off golden retriever vibes at times
