⭐⭐⭐1/2

While the pacing felt a bit slow in places, this enemies-to-lovers rom-com ultimately charmed me with its well-developed main characters and engaging supporting cast.

This book is 3rd in the "When in Rome" series by Sarah Adams and gives a lasting sense of warmth and wholesomeness.

Oh I’ve read Practice makes perfect in this series and I quite liked it. Who’s the MC for Beg, Borrow, Steal? Is it the teacher (I forgot her name)

Yeah.. it's the elder sister.. Emily and her arch-nemisis, Jack..

Quite a slow-burn with less smut and more character development.. Could have been less pages, but I still liked it all the same..

Yeah I think all her books are like that. In Practice makes perfect they don’t even kiss until like 70% of the book if I recall right 😅.

I’m okay with slow burn at times and at other times it annoys me. Depends on the writing I guess.

Yeah I too have heard of people loving Deep end (in fact it was recommended highly on the Romance Book Club FB group I'm in) and Funny Story. In case of Emily Henry, I think it's the author & the writing that doesn't seem to appeal to me. I didn't even like Book Lovers that much and that's her most loved book I believe.

Ali Hazelwood's always been hit or miss for me. I did like her STEM novels a lot more than I liked this one.

My favorite Emily Henry book is 'People we meet on vacation'.

In terms of Ali Hazelwood, I don't believe I am saying this.. but my favourite, even more than the STEM books is, 'Bride'. It's like I never knew that's something I will end up liking in the first place 🤣

Omg! Mine too! PWMOV that is…

I might even see the movie!

Oh really? I’m not into vampires etc so I’m hesitant to read Bride. I did like Love on the Brain and Love theoretically by her. (More than TLH)

So here's the thing about Bride.. I went into it, with very low expectations and it was at the time of its release when not much reviews had come. But the book is so self-aware, and so is the FL, that I ended up chuckling half of the time.. Also it was the first time I was trying something in that genre i.e lovestory between 2 different species. (kinda made me nostalgic for twilight as well). Plus its good kind of slow burn.

But fast forward to later, and I got to know that there were a lot of readers like me who were pleasantly surprised with it. But now after all this time, with so much hype around it, I am not sure if u would like it.. but yeah.. maybe give it a try if u feel like it.
