How do you decide which book to read?

All of us come across way too many books we haven't read, especially when we research trying to find books to read, we always discover wayyy too many books that we could read.

So how do you actually decide which books you will read? Do you just go to the book store and pick any you like or do you actually do the research, look at the reviews before getting it?

I do both, but another interesting thing I do is whenever I go to a library, I randomly pick a section and start looking for interesting titles/book covers. And then I grab any I find interesting and read the short intro in the back to see if that's something I'd like to read. I've actually found a few good books that way.

Hmmm... for me it has to be one of the following...
If I don't have anything in mind, I just go to the bookstore and browse... I read the blurbs on the back of the books... look at the covers... and I usually find something good :P
I check reading lists online.... there are tons of good books in those and you can usually find something that you'll like...
People recommend books to me too... then I check the plot summaries on Wikipedia and if it sounds interesting, I buy it :P

I just go and start browsing for books that look interesting, I would first actually look at the cover and if it catches my eye, I read the back to see if its actually worth reading, lol

I like to browse and if the blurb seems interesting, I'd read the book.

I also like it when my friends recommend books to me. if they swear by a book, I'd probably try it. if it's a genre I know I'd enjoy at least. that's how I found The Mortal Instruments. :)

Well I almost always have a book coming out that I want to read from certain fave authors.
If there is nothing out, I visit sites like TeenReads and stuff and read the desc. if one of more sounds interesting I go to amazon and look at the ratings and read a couple of reviews and then base my decision on whether to read or not. I also just go the bookstore and browse around. Sometimes I do what Radz mention above and gone upon recommendations.
& speaking of which, I've heard mixed review on those (MT series) would you recommend them?

haha.

I thought it was good. it's well-written, a little slow moving at times, I felt, but once you dig deep into it, it's hard to put it down. if you're fond of the genre, then I'd say go for it!

I usually don't read that genre much, but I'll try it out anyways.
