The chic cliques

Meet Bollywood's famous girl-friends. They hang out together, holiday together, babysit each other's kids. And they simply live for those uproarious girls' nights out

They're a regular twosome when it comes to painting the town red. After washing off the grime of daily shoots, the two invariably head to posh suburban restaurants. And occupy a corner table to avoid roving eyes. "We hang out as often as possible. Our nights-out include good food and, of course, lots of gossip and stories that we exchange. If we meet at one of our homes, we also play our favourite games Articulate and Taboo," says Amrita. Their friendship is five years old and they have a lot in common to help the bonding along — food habits, games they like to play, yoga.

They're the most enthusiastic party animals in this list. This also makes them the most controversial pair in town. Their nights out are often marked by brawls. Kim's encounter with a firang guest whom she slapped at the Chinese restaurant at a posh suburban five-star hotel (where the duo usually party) is well-known. Also, whenever a star-struck fan gets too close for comfort, Kim's beefy male friends have sprung into action and what follows suit can put an action sequence from a Bollywood potboiler to shame.

The power-puff girls

Here's Bollywood's most powerful girls brigade: Gauri Khan, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, Seema Khan, Neelam Kothari and Kaajal Anand. Filmmaker Farah Khan also joins them whenever she can. They meet twice a week to drink, make merry and update each other on their lives. The venue is usually a posh five-star hotel in the suburbs or Shah Rukh Khan's bungalow Mannat. "We have done some crazy stuff together, but have reasonably sobered down these days. We have a world of our own and we just can't live without each other," says Maheep Kapoor.

Rani Mukerji and Vaibhavi Merchant

These two are old friends and regulars at a popular Juhu five-star hotel, famous for its filmi clientele. Their nights out usually begin with a film caught at a suburban theatre. After the show, they head to the coffee shop of this hotel for a quick gossip over dinner.

Neena Gupta and Soni Razdan

Longtime friends, these two usually settle for brisk strolls along Juhu beach, followed by dinner at an Indian restaurant specialising in Rajasthani cuisine at Malad. Says Soni, "Once we even took drinks along with us in the car while heading to the restaurant. Naturally, we were in great spirits by the time we reached there!"

Dimple Kapadia and Neetu Singh

These two friends prefer staying indoors to hanging out at night spots. They often frequent each other's house. Once a month, they organise lavish get-togethers, where they invite their common friends over. Neetu says, "Yes, earlier we used to go out and do all the crazy things that youngsters do. But gone are those days and that age... But we do confide a lot in each other."
