Abbas-Mastan, the duo that gave Bollywood its biggest star in two decades, say they are planning sequels to Baazigar and Badshah with Shah Rukh Khan.
"We will make the most expensive film of Shah Rukh's career," promises Abbas, "we are now putting together the sequels for Baazigar and Badshah and we want to work with Shah Rukh again. He is the kind of star we believe is a guaranteed bet at the box office."
He said they would ask King Khan for one series of dates and wrap up both films in that patch. Getting more than one schedule with him in a year would be impossible, Abbas said. He and partner Mastan had discussed this with producer Ratan Jain, he said.
Asked why they waited so long before moving on the sequels, he said "We made a lot of commitments after we did Badshah, and all these years we were completing them."
The duo's current film is Mr Fraud, which is set around a robbery and stars Ajay Devgan, Bipasha Basu, Sanjay Dutt and Tanushree Datta.
Abbas says they will start work on the Shah Rukh projects in earnest soon after Mr Fraud is completed. "We have just two days of shooting left on Mr Fraud. It was a long pending project and because of it we were not able to concentrate on any other film," he said.
The masters of the Bollywood thriller delivered a dud in their last project, 36 China Town starring Akshaye Khanna, Shahid Kapur and Kareena. Before that, Humraaz with Akshaye and Bobby, was one of the biggest hits of that year.
Their next release is Naqaab in which they have repeated Akshaye and Bobby.
