I read here that SRK was a first choice for Akshay Kumar's role.

Don't think that he could accept such boldest character in those times.

I don't remember much but only being thoroughly scandalised watching it as a kid. I also thought the prime twist of the movie was the greatest trick since water-turned-into-wine
