This clarifies a lot. Thanks. It seemed you were only focused on getting the job.
You may not think access is nepotism. But to many talented aspiring actors, the fact that people with inside connections get auditions is extremely grating. It is nepotism.
But what you deem as dishonesty is extremely common with jobs. So many jobs it's not what you know but who you know.
Believe me. I get it. I'm not an actor, but I do write. Also got picked up by a book to screen agent. Maybe bragging a bit, but I take every chance to make myself feel better about the situation, so gonna brag anyway. The agent found me, not the other way around, because of a review from a known journal. (Please congratulate me 😆. I need the validation)
Sadly, the first thing anyone wants to know is she someone famous or someone whose family name we can use? I heard about Aryan Khan's script being produced. Then I heard it was being worked on because it wasn't up to par. But it will get produced.
It's difficult not to feel bitter. And this is coming from an SRK fan.
Now, I know someone who knows someone who is into production. I asked if my friend would show it to the person. Waiting on that still. If it gets adapted, will it be nepotism? I sure as hell don't feel that lucky. I mean I worked darned hard on writing, editing, proofing over and over. If a producer actually lays eyes on it, does my work mean nothing any longer? He won't be producing it because he knows my friend for sure. If his company picks it up, it will presumably be because they see potential.
