KJo himself said in an interview, box office aside, this is the first time my movie is being unanimously praised. Super happy for Ranveer man, the guy really needed this and from what i’ve heard, he’s done full justice to Rocky (and apparently has a meatier role compared to Aloo too) genuinely excited to watch a Bollywood movie after sooooo long!!

Just like we all go gaga over “female-led” films. I think it’s high time we appreciate male-led films too. The film is completely Ranveer’s show and the supporting male characters as well. Without him, the film would fall flat. There’s nothing wrong in saying the truth and for me, all the men of the film carried the movie.

For me, the film is titled Rocky Ki Prem Kahani. Yup. I said what I said. Everyone else is a supporting character.

So finally watched the movie yesterday. There is only 1 part of the movie the I found good and authentic. The story of Rani’s father and his journey.

The remaining movie was downright average and even ridiculous at times. I don’t know how the movie is being hailed pathbreaking. Whatever so called progressive issues movie has brought up have been around in conversation for at least 20 years. If someone says that ideas like women can have aspirations after marriage, a girl should have freedom to do job and be independent, clothes are not responsible for rape are something they haven’t heard before, they must be living under a rock.

Ranveer Singh’s acting was good especially in where he was hurt by derision / dismissal of Rani’s family members. The best character and actor was Rani’s father. Alia Bhatt and Shabana Azmi were decent. Rocky’s grandmother and father were quite caricaturish and actors didn’t have a great impact either. His sister was good in her parts.

Overall the movie was just average, a mixture of few decent, few mediocre and some ridiculous parts. I can’t believe that this movie is being hyped as if it’s the best thing in Bollywood since Mughal-e-Azam. But as it’s helmed by K Jo it’s not a surprise. The level of manipulation is off the charts.

Anyway this is the state of Bollywood now. Few powerful men have the industry in their hold and they will drive the perception the way they want. Either manipulate the collections (Brahmastra) or manipulate the reviews (Rocky Rani). It’s amazing though that a big budget movie with top stars and director that has barely touched 100 crore in a week is already being hailed as such a mega success.

Anyway I have lost all hopes for Bollywood anyway. No genuine efforts and mediocre products overcompensated by marketing gimmicks.

Wow thanks for speaking the language of FACTS. Love when I see honest reviews like this. Gives me hope in humanity.

More than the media manipulation I’m surprised at some members participating in similar activities, pushing false narratives and made of realities

The false narratives and fake hype... It feels like either other people have lost their critical thinking or maybe we have too much of it.

I just feel stupid that I was swayed by the reviews in the thread despite not being at all impressed with the promos.Thought that maybe there was something more to the movie if it's being hailed like this.

A movie like Satyaprem ki Katha which actually dealt with an unconventional and bold issue remained mostly unacknowledged while this is being praised to moons for dealing with most basic issues that should have been normalized long back.

Honestly, there are three threads for this movie...as much as I value opinions about the movie's content, I think, one could choose one of the other 2 threads for elaborating about details....please!

As I couldn't watch it yet, I only come here to read...spoilerfree!!!
