I just feel stupid that I was swayed by the reviews in the thread despite not being at all impressed with the promos.Thought that maybe there was something more to the movie if it's being hailed like this.

A movie like Satyaprem ki Katha which actually dealt with an unconventional and bold issue remained mostly unacknowledged while this is being praised to moons for dealing with most basic issues that should have been normalized long back.

No need to take it so personally, I was talking generally about the glowing reviews of film critics and tweets posted in this thread. I wouldn't have had any qualms if it was treated like a regular bollywood entertainer, with some pros and some cons, but the general sentiment was that its some sort of masterpiece. Someone even posted here that its the most well received movie after Dangal! So please don't blame me if I dared to hold it to high standards.

And its great that the audiences in your theatre had such a good time. In my theatre it was watched like just other movies and I didn't see any super enthusiastic reaction in particular.

And I was talking about K Jos media manipulation, not that he paid members of this forum. You can see this very clearly in the way the numbers of this movie are reported. First, it supposedly had fair opening even at 11 cr, then it was declared as overseas hit as Indian Box office numbers were nothing to boast about, then its was said Day 7 has higher figure than day 1, never mind that Day 1 figures were low to begin with. And now its said that it will touch 100 cr today. As if its some huge achievement for a high-budget movie with top stars and director to touch 100 cr in 10 days, which is still lower that its budget, btw. Its clear how desperately the media is trying to paint it as a success and hype the collections.

As for 3 idiots, whatever the debate be on this movie there was no debate on its numbers and that it was immensely loved by movie going audience of that time. It was highest grossing movie of that time with 300 crs+ collection, so lets not even compare Rocky Rani to that.

3 Idiots had a worldwide gross of just about 400 crores and an India Net collection of 202 crore.

I agree to the way, numbers are hyped, but that has become common practice...

I don't think that the movie was overhyped here...it is just the usual enthusiasm and joy of fans and those who thoroughly enjoyed the movie, imo.

Nevertheless, you're right that through the posted twitter-posts one can get an impression that doesn't match the own experience...

There are so many reasons why to like or dislike a movie...and sometimes even the watching experience (an enthusiastic audience e.g.) can have an elevating influence...(the contrary could be watching a movie made for the big screen on a smartphone or tablet)

That's why I'm interested in the reasons why someone is positive/negative towards a movie (on condition that it had been watched).

Rocky aur Rani definitely is made as a movie extravaganza to watch in the theatre... (hopefully I get the opportunity)
