I remember when I was a child, I watched an animated version of Mahabharata where Yudhishthira was called Yudi and Duryodhana was called Dhuri. It remains one of my most favorite adaptation of Mahabharata even though the dialogues were different - because at the end of the day, the premise was respected and the characters retained their original values.

From the old Ramayana series to the one with Gurmeet and Siya ke Ram, not to mention the many shows on Hanuman - they have all kept the basic sanctity of the religious text. The characters are loaded with make up, Ramji has a six pack, Sita mata has burgundy lipstick and loads of eyeshadow, but the characters act and behave like I and many Hindus believe our Gods did.

Not only is the language in AP stilted and makes the Gods seem like Delhi boys, but it fails to evoke any feelings of bhakti. You want to do an adaptation - Hum Saath Saath Hain or Maat Pitaah ke Charnon Mein Swarg are adaptations of Ramayana. Don't publicise the movie as being Ramayana, leave a seat for Hanumanji and then say that the movie is not completely the religious text you used to make the audience flock to the theatres in the first place.

Hollywood never paid attention to the Indian audience until much recently. Before that the Indian audience still used to seek out the content on their own whatever may be their reasons. So please don’t give me that Hollywood was catering to the Hindi audience. It’s about seeking out and trying to see what we want to see. You don’t want to look into your own homemade stuff but rather look up to the outside ones, so be it. Nobody is cribbing about the choices you are making or want to make. I am just pointing at an obvious fact and why even Om Raut was compelled to look outside for inspiration and ended up making a hotch potch of the Epic which glaring lacks nativity amongst the other things.

i officially HATE adipurush distributers. I went to every theatre here searching for tickets. I ended up watching the Boogeyman because of them. Worst horror film I have seen in years.

Waise Prabhas is also a monotone actor and only suited for action or warrior roles.

He can do Arjun or Karna type roles in Mahabharat or some king. He is unfit to play Ram.

I found Arun Govil, Gurmeet Choudhary, Nitish Bharadwaj, and the guy from Siya ke Ram serial to be better as Ram compared to this beefcake who had no divine aura or god like, all knowing expression or composure.

Nitish was really good in all avatars of Lord Vishnu in Vishnu Puran.

I now feel TV actors do not get their due. Filmi ones are hyped too much.

The guys playing Lakshman and Hanuman look terrible in clips. And so does Saif who is usually a good actor or saving grace...

You are lucky you don’t get to hear his dead original voice and drab dialogue delivery. I wonder what you would’ve had to say if you did. 😅 All I know is that the guy has some gumption attempting such a larger than life role with absolutely zero pre prep.

😳🥴🫣

They clearly didn’t understand where it went wrong.🤣

I wonder why they chose the writer to take the fall when it is the director who should be blamed for approving all this nonsense. Why isn’t anyone saying anything to Om Raut?

As atominis mentioned the Japanese animated version several times, I searched for the movie and found it on YouTube where the whole film is in the English version. I watched it and agree...it's well made and close to the version I know from reading:

I believe Prabhas got totally carried away by success of Bahubali.

That made him over confident and complacent.

He seems expressionless to me and is not a great looker.

I guess Sharad Kelkar brought emotion in dialogues by dubbing for him. Otherwise, as you say, maybe even his voice and dialogue delivery are not as good.

I feel beard saves his face. He would look worse clean shaven.

Video deleted now.

Looks like team of film is still using copyright laws to get clips removed from every tweet or YT video online
