COPYING AND PASTING PREVIOUS STORIES IVE SHARED TO KICKSTART THIS THREAD
God, I sure hope I’ve never been possessed. But I’ve witnessed so many spooky things that I could write a book on it. There’s too many stories to tell and I’m sure not everyone will be bothered to read that much. However, apart from hearing/seeing creepy shit, I’ve also suffered from sleep paralysis MANY times. Let me tell you that sleep paralysis is absolutely terrifying. At one point, I was too scared to go to sleep because I didn’t want to experience it again.
Sleep Paralysis Stories
Definition: Sleep paralysis is a temporary inability to move that occurs right after falling asleep or waking up. Individuals remain aware during episodes, which frequently involve terrifying hallucinations.
- My first experience was like a horror movie. I was asleep, dreaming that I’m in a dark bedroom and all I could see was the silhouette of the devil (it had horns). The devil then pushes me and I fall back onto the bed and he places his hand over my chest, which starts to suffocate me. This is when I wake up and my whole body is paralysed, I can’t move but I’m wide awake. The pressure is still on my chest and I can’t breathe. I’m trying to cry out and move but I can’t even talk. Somehow I snap out of it and wake up. The next day I googled it and realised that this experience is common and tried to focus on the scientific explanation rather than cultural beliefs which say sleep paralysis happens because a demon is sitting on your chest (FCUK THAT).
- Second experience happened in broad daylight. I was taking a nap and in the middle of a pleasant dream (I was running in grassland with flowers surrounding me), when I woke up and realised that I was paralysed again. This time I didn’t panic because I had google searched it. So I remained calm and tried to lift my head off the pillow. I barely lifted my head off the pillow when it was slammed back down. Then I tried to raise my arm and again it was slammed back to the same position. I looked like those possessed girls fighting a paranormal force. I could feel someone breathing into my ear and thankfully snapped out of it.
- I’ll skip the other stories because I’ve lost count how many times I’ve had sleep paralysis, but this one scared me to death. I was sleeping on the couch, lying on my side facing the couch. I woke up in the middle of the night paralysed. I tried to will myself to wake up and was gradually trying to move my limbs when I felt a sinister presence standing behind me. You know that overwhelming feeling you get when you can sense someone is standing over you? That’s exactly how it felt but I couldn’t move my head to look behind me. Then I felt the ‘presence’ lean over and with a harsh demonic sounding voice, it started whispering creepy sounding gibberish in my ear. I even felt the breath tickling the side of my face. All I remember is internally screaming but only muffled sounds were escaping my mouth, as if I had my mouth covered with tape. I finally woke up and turned on all the lights and proceeded to watch cartoons until sunrise. 🙂
Sorry for the long read, I got carried away. Scary stories are my favourite type of conversations. When I was 5 years old, I scared my Kindergarten teacher when she asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I told her that I wanted to be a vampire, while the other girls wanted to be a princess. 😭
NON PARALYSIS STORY # 1
This happened when I was around 15 years old. I was chatting on MSN and checked the time realising that it was past midnight. So I turned off the computer and finally went to bed. My bed was right behind a window which overlooked my backyard. I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep when I heard the most scary chudail-sounding scream right outside my window. The only way I could describe the scream was that it sounded like the creepy ghost lady from Raaz. It was even more scary because the sound was so close to me, it almost like the lady was standing in my backyard right outside my window. The dogs surrounding my neighbouring houses were going berserk and barking like crazy.
I was so scared and my legs were shaking so hard that I couldn’t even run or walk out of my room. My legs had no power, so I fell to the ground and started crawling to my sisters room next door. I climbed into her bed and tried to wake her up but she slept like a dead person. I had gone mute from the fright and could only manage to shakily whisper to her. I gave up trying to wake her and laid down next to her trembling. That’s when I heard the exact same scream again but this time it was right outside my sisters window. The scream didn’t sound human. It sounded like a witch was screeching with the intent to kill me from a fear-induced heart attack. I screamed the house down and woke everyone up, crying inconsolably. There was no logical explanation because my backyard is surrounded by both my neighbours backyard. I also share my backyard with the house behind me but all four sides are blocked off with a fence.
AN AMERICAN HAUNTING
When I was 18, I had travelled to United States to visit my mothers side of the family. All her siblings and children live there. I was at my uncles house, which is renowned for being haunted. Everyone knows about it and has personally experienced creepy shit happening to them. When we were staying at my uncles, all my aunts and cousins also decided to sleep over. The house was a huge double storey with 6 bedrooms. There was like 3-4 people sleeping in each room, with most of my guy cousins sleeping downstairs in the living room.
The first night went by just fine with no dramas. In the morning, my eldest cousin approached and begged me to sleep in her room tonight because apparently the night before when she was sleeping next to her daughter, the light suddenly turned off. The light was those floor lamps where you have to twist the knob anti-clockwise to dim or turn off the light. So basically you can’t turn off the light unless the power goes out or someone manually turns it off.
So I agreed and took my younger cousin with me. Basically there was now four people in the same room. My eldest cousin and her daughter were snoring away peacefully while my younger cousin and I were awake chatting while we laid next to each other. The floor of the house is made from wood. We were literally laying at my eldest cousins foot, with the bedroom door on our right. My cousin who was next to me was directly next to the wardrobe as well. Now imagine that behind the wardrobe there was no wall, then directly behind the wall is the staircase. Here is a rough picture to illustrate it for you. 😂

So it was around 2-3:00am and we were chatting when suddenly the floor lamp turned off. Both of us dived underneath the blanket and started screaming, waking my elder cousin up. She groggily got up and switched the light back on, muttering that we were such chickens (The shameless audacity of her complaining when she forced us to sleep in this room because of the same reason!)
Anyway, we laughed it off even though we were kind of spooked and started chatting again. That’s when we heard a tapping sound on the staircase. It sounded like a long fingernail tapping on the wooden stair with the slow rhythm of 1 2 3 4 5 (like water dripping from the tap). We both went quiet to better hear the sound. Then it was as if the thing started using both hands and began to drum all their fingernails onto the wood. At the same time, the wardrobe right next to us started to shake and we both started screaming. My eldest cousin woke up and said we were both dreaming, brushing off our experience. If I had heard this alone then fair enough but my younger cousin experienced/heard the exact same thing. Plus we weren’t even sleeping. There’s no explanation how the wardrobe inside the bedroom started to shake as well. Obviously everything stopped once we started screaming but this still terrifies me to this day.
Authors note (Yes I’m a writer now)
I just realised how dedicated and bothered I was to draw the bloody scenario and upload it on imgur just to post it here. 😂
