Well, some parents don't really bother about the interests their kids have, they just want their kids to do what they themselves want them to do...and parents of the filmindustry aren't an exception...I bet that some of them just want the kids to earn the money they need to maintain their lifestyle and for them, everyone who can help them to get what they want, is welcome.

When this is the case, I find nepotism condemnable.

Some of the kids are just trapped to fullfil their parents wishes and in the long run that will destroy or - at least - dammage them. When the kids have no choice than surrender to the connections their parents have, nepotism is in no way acceptable.

But when a kid of a filmstar (like Suhana) has the honest wish to be an actor and even learned about the craft, (perhaps) smoothing the way for her is okay, imo. She still has to prove herself.

This is my question. How is KJo robbing anyone when it's his own money?

how do his proteges get parts?

he controls tons of resources, these are not neccessarily resources owned by him (which one may argue he is free to control) but a call from him can cut them out, has his own clique

there are so many instances in the industry where people threaten somebody to do something or you will be octracized, we will make sure you are isolated or don't have access to something (theaters, media etc)

by doing this you sabotage the chance of somebody who would have got it in a free market

tons of ways to do it, only the ones like slb or rajamouli may have the power to go above it

He has admitted calling people for Alia or one of his protégés. Which is well within his rights. I've recommended people for jobs before. I don't have to take an accounting of the entire workforce of the U.S. before recommending someone I like and think will do a good job.

The intimidation stuff is pure conjecture, to use one of KJo's fav words. Or Karthik Aryan wouldn't have done BB2 after he quit Dharma movie.

The most common example brought up is SSR. But even a rank outsider like Anurag Kashyap said SSR was highly problematic. The reason people didn't want to work with him had nothing to do with KJo. Who else's career is KJo supposed to have sabotaged? Yeah, the questions on KwK were leading, but that's hardly sabotage. Parineeti destroyed her career on her own. Shraddha is still around.

I dislike Karan's gossip girl behavior and his elitism and snarkism. But the dude hasn't really done anything unethical.

i think it is naive to think that networks won't be leveraged to put down competition, why do we hear only the names of sara, ananya, jhanvi, alia, why do some actors get repeated chances after failures, why are only some performnaces prasied to the sky? who even remembers that parineeti got a national award mention for her first film and this is someone who is actually connected, what about somebody who is an actual outsider.

kjo is not the only culprit, earlier times lata mangeshkar was known to have killed competition and I am sure everyone does it to some extent, kjo is cited because he seems to taken it to another level, will there be proof for that. there never be proper proof ever but I believe that there is no smoke without fire, kangana may be wild ranter but I think there is some truth to it.

secondly I have work in academia, have worked in both India and US and even in a place like academia which is is supposed to be highly qualification or merit driven, the way the system is manipulated in India is something else, you sctratch my back..i yours from positions, publications, job offers everything is used, it is so subtle that you can never find proof. It exists in the US too but there is basic system which ensures some level of meritocracy

maybe I am digressing but given a place like the industry where eveything is so subjective I can very well see how that could happen there manifold.

sanjay dutt with a severe drug issue, holding weapons and salman with his anger issues, crimes survived, came back but why are some stars problems amplified and they are thrown on the wayside

shiney ahuja, randeep hooda, jimmy shergill so many names

Isn’t every famous South Indian actor connected to somebody within the industry? Except for Vijay Devarakonda that is.
