If it wasn't for Denzel, I think Will would've lost it even more. But Will was so right standing up for Jada, that's his wife and she suffers from alopecia. And this is the second time Chris cracked a joke on Jada. He had no excuses.

My thoughts on this

Wasn’t fake. I’d it was fake it would’ve gone on longer and gotten cheesy like filmfare does 😂

I won’t comment on what’s appropriate for a comedian to say or even why people shouldn’t slap each other.

I’ll just say Chris Rock handled himself and his situation better than Will Smith did ✅

Scripted or not - making personal joke/comments for participants or their families - always has chances of not going it well.

Why don’t they ( script writers or anchors ) stick to movies and movie characters ???

Making fun of someone's hair loss - wrong

Using violence to resolve conflict - wrong

It could also be possible that chris rock did not know about jada's alopecia, and even if he did then he must have thought it wouldn't have offended her too much.

Will was laughing at the joke, and it seems like by either seeing jada's reaction or jada looking at him he got up and slapped chris rock, but it was totally uncalled for.

Ok Will saw his wife was offended by the joke, he could have handled in so many other ways, he could have gone backstage and spoke to chris rock about it, or he could have gone onstage and told chris that it wasn't an appropriate joke and he should apologise to his wife, but slapping him like that achieves nothing and is such a violent and over the top reaction. And after the slap he goes on to use to offensive language not once but twice.

The oscars is a live show being shown all over the world, people of all ages are watching it, Will showed such indecency and violent behaviour and honestly Will seems to have some issues going on, because usually he is a very level headed and calm person, this was really out of character for him to do.

Chris handled it extremely well, he could have hit Will back or he could have left at that moment, but he didn't do any of that, he stayed calm and carried on with the nominations
