Marlon Brando started everything... He was the first one to politicize the award function... Then everyone started doing right upto Meryl Streep few yrs ago... Then the ratings started to drop sharply, they realized they were alienating a section of people, seemed to have stopped doing political comments and jokes and so have to resort to these type antics now
