Roadblocks, Numbers & Outlook
The tussle between makers and exhibitors regarding profit sharing (Makers demand 60,55,50,45, exhibitors demand: 52.5, 47.5, 45, 40) has delayed the advance booking openings at many regions.
Another roadblock for the makers is with single screens where most single screens had already promised Disney to allot at least one show during this Diwali for Eternals. So 100% screen capture plan has failed.
Most of south region and some of north regions famous for playing south Indian movies have already been captured by Rajani Sir's Annaatthe
While most regions exhibitors are still following 50% occupancy rule have already hiked the ticket prices, which might impact the collections. Looking at the current status of advance bookings (checked at 1:00 PM, 4th Nov 2021) in major cities, the movie might struggle to get good opening as advance booking in most centers are at 20-30% for 8:00 AM,11:00 AM,2:00 PM shows.
The movie was canned for more than a year, which loses its charm. The anticipation and excitement before pandemic has already been lost. The marketing campaign by the production house (due to lack of budget or something else) before the release was completely lackluster.
The pandemic period has already changed audience taste for entertainment with exposure of world cinema with major OTT platforms. This factor on the one hand might hamper the opening, while at the same time, people haven't enjoyed the full on action masala, item number songs on THE BIG SCREEN for such a long time.
So you never know, how the movie will open tomorrow.
UPDATE 4th Nov 2021, 13:40: All issues solved with Multiplexes chain. Movie will release in PVR, INOX and Cinepolis. advance booking to open from 4 PM.

REVIEW
Finally, back from theater or stadium I could say.
The roar, claps, chanting and the BGM is still ringing in my ears - Sooryavanshi... Sooryavanshi...
Sooryavanshi is typical Rohit Shetty movie; mix of action and comedy with bit of drama here and there.
Only difference which I found in this movie is with introduction of Akshay Kumar in the production team, we can see some of Neeraj Pandey's influence in the cinematography and direction.
The story line is as wafer thin as all Rohit movies are like Dilwale or Chennai Express. It's about missing RDX and ATS have a task to find it before another big mishap happens.
The first half of the movie is all about the build up. Katrina comes and goes with a line or two. We keep on hearing about RDX only with some music and action sequences. Nothing much happens. Its so-so.
But the real movie starts after the interval. The movie picks up speed and the penultimate 30 mins brings the high-octane action sequences. The background score by DJ Chetas will blow your mind during these sequences. Theater turned into stadium with roar. Ranveer has nailed it with his comic timing and actions, Simba will definitely get sequel after this movie. Then comes Ajay, Singham and rocks with his action sequences and dialogues. Those 30 mins gives you the experience like you are watching some Marvel action sequences. Rohit has definitely invested a lot this time in the action department.
We see more of action stunts than blowing of vehicles this time. There still are many explosions but that takes backseat this time. The movie has already left an option for its sequel too.
In terms of story line and script, it delivers what it was expected. Nothing novel, but its execution keeps you hooked.
Performance wise each actor has done superb job. It was nice experience to see original Khiladi Kumar back in his 90s action style. He still has that kind of agility and performs those action sequences with such confidence. The extended guest appearances were cherry on the top. Supporting cast of Gulshan, Javed were also apt for these kind of masala action thriller.
Katrina was so-so and had only some significant role after the first half.
Music wise, the remixed songs... some would like it some might not. For me it was not up to the mark.
The biggest USP of the movie is the brand; "Rohit Shetty's action Dhamaka"
That it perfectly delivers.
If you are into high-octane, linear, joyride kind of cinema, then you won't be disappointed with this movie. But if you are into Raju Hirani kind of cinema where movie is meant to give some message and at the same time entertain you then this movie might not be your cup of tea.
As for me in this festive season, the movie was an enjoyable fare.
I would give 3.5/5 Stars.
