I'm told I have the RBF and my tone is supposed to be unfriendly and snooty. Going to weddings is a nightmare. When you get older people go from the Wtf Is Your Problem Now look to the Aww You'll Find Somebody Too look. Maybe we should take acting classes or something lol

I have a soft, sweet bubbly face and people get the shock of their lives when they see me angry 🤣🤣🤣

People think I’m docile and soft. Which I’m not

Kapoors are the same too, only after the father passed away, riddhima could appear on tv

I read a very old interview of hers once. I think I was only 11 then, early 2000s. She didn't seem any interested in entering BW, she sounded like it was something beneath her. It was some woman’s magazine, Femina I think. Can’t remember. I liked Karishma and Kareena as a kid so I was disappointed 😭

Yes. Jaya had said 'she's taking it all in, she is quiet, she listens, she stands behind' when she spoke of Ash in KWK. And Amitabh called her 'domesticated' in many TV interviews.

Amitabh was criticised a lot for using that word for Ash back then. It is kind of sexist to call any human 'domesticated'.

The old couple is orthodox in their expectations from women of their family. In Rendezvous interviews too they admitted Jaya was much stricter with Shweta than she was with Abhishek as a mother.

Most film clans are patriarchal. Pataudis, Akhtars, Azmis, Kajol and Rani's parental families etc are few film families that allow their women to work. Others keep their women away from film industry atleast if not any other field. Kapoors, Bachchans, Chopras, Dutts, Khanna etc none allowed women to work in films. Dimple resumed work only after she began to live separately from Rajesh (who admitted he had turned away producers who would come to offer work to his wife). Karishma and Kareena defied their family simply due to their mother Babita living separately and supporting them to work in films.

Yash Chopra had banned women from his family from entering film sets and studios. Had he been alive, I feel it would have been hard for Rani to even do Mardaani or any YRF film after marriage to Aditya considering how strict Yash Chopra was about not allowing family women on sets of films.

The industry is mostly full of such conservative clans or maybe they are not keen on their women doing films because they feel it is 'not a good place for women' or they want their own daughters, sisters, mothers, DILs etc to behave a certain way.

I think once an actor had also admitted he never saw his mom's films as a kid because he could not see his mom with other men in films. This is mindset of most film clans where star sons also do not seem keen on celebrating legacy of their moms as actresses. I cannot recall which star son gave that interview...but it was a couple of years ago.

I have not seen Ash, Sr B and Jr B perform Kajra re again for some years now.

Jaya toh even walked out of theatre when she did not like Amitabh doing drag act in Mere Angne mein song in Laawaris. But dynamics between MIL and DIL and generation gap are different from dynamics of husband and wife or mother and son.

I do not think Ash did any kissing scenes after Dhoom 2 or even roles like ADHM later.

She slowly did cut down on such types of scenes.

Her films like Sarbjit and Jazbaa are also types that require no hero opposite her and no romantic scenes.

I guess Ash stretched it only as far she could but has stopped trying to test the waters with what else she will be accepted doing.

In recent times she may have been grieving loss of her father and wanted to spend more time with her mom now.

Her in laws are only one factor in her slowly stepping away from limelight.

Bachchan seniors did not even want Shweta to work or separate. But of late they are helping her do ads or appear with them in magazine cover or launch book written by her or help her get her own column in DNA. They make some allowance only to a limit when circumstances are not entirely for them to control.

This is like bit of compromise. Dharmendra did not want his daughters to work in films or on stage. He hardly supported career of Esha. But he got his second daughter married off without letting her dabble behind the camera as she had once hoped to be a screen writer or director. Esha still tries to do a bit of ads or TV or launched her book but even that effort is supported only by Hema and Dharam keeps away from any endeavour Esha takes up. Few films, ads or a TV show judge stint does not mean Deol girls had no orthodox bias to deal with from their dad.

Bachchans are smarter than Kapoors and Deols though. They do what they want but keep an ideal image in public or accompany kids and women at events, to avoid the charge of 'not keen on supporting women's work'.

Even when Bachchans allow women to work, it is a certain way, certain type or limit of work. Like Jaya could do mom roles or be a TV producer or a narrator or a Rajya Sabha MP (which does not require as much active work and campaigning as a Lok Sabha MP) or at the most play Amitabh's wife as she did in Silsila or do offbeat films like Hazaar Chaurasi ki Ma later but not mainstream films or typical leading lady roles.

One can convince such lot only to a limit. Abhishek himself is influenced by and respects his parents a lot. I doubt he is the kind of man to defy or displease or confront his parents in any way even if he supports his wife, daughter and sister.

If Ash managed to do even as much as she did after marriage to Abhishek, I feel it is due to his support also as a spouse.

I don’t understand why shweta’s parents care anymore. She’s a married woman. I mean, if they are that patriarchal, why meddle, is her husband and his family’s business.

Idk too much about their dynamics and they alone know what goes inside their house. But Aish’s past relationship and her living in with Salman before marriage was known by everyone. Then she was with Vivek. I don’t see why they would marry Abhishek to her if they are that conservative. Why not marry him to some rich business class family who has no past?

Also, Aish has to maintain a relationship with her in laws, even kids do that.. they don’t tell parents everything. Like, my friend’s wife likes to drink and it would be a big issue in the family but let’s her and parents don’t have to know.

All kids are different publicly, adults also lie when talking about their son and bahu infront of others to maintain a certain kind of image.

Also celebs may not want their kids to enter the industry other reasons. The environment is not good many times, (remember when Rekha was kissed forcibly!). Especially the men know how the women are eyed upon by certain people in the industry. Not everyone will be comfortable and they may actually have very valid reasons.

I think it’s tough to assume as we are not privy to their life daily. They are grown adults and Aish has always been very mature.

Yes she did. And did not speak to her husband and director of the film for days.

I love your line 'jiski biwi grumpy uska bhi bada naam hai'. 🤣

Apparently Jaya did not like to see her husband dressed as different types of women and doing those antics.

She found the song vulgar and 'unbecoming of Amitabh's stature as an actor'.

That song is ironically a superhit from Amitabh's career.
