I think it was beautiful ❤️

Kapoor and Sons was easily one of the best movies of last decade - layered, sensitive, and poignant. It's premise was of a dysfunctional family but it was so much more - a depiction of homosexuality in an out-and-out mainstream film sans gay jokes and caricatures, a gentle take on infidelity, betrayal, love, and deceit. It wasn't the slightest bit predictable or boring, instead it blended entertainment with content in a very beautiful, sublime way.
Devastating on domestic atrophy, flawed people, rage that can barely find it's word, warring couples, gloom and glamour - it was an aggressively perfect movie.
What is your review of the movie?
I would rank it easily on a list of 100 Best Hindi Films Of All-Time.
For anyone interested in film-making, I highly recommend this film. Whether it's characterisation, performances, screenplay (in particular, the pace), background score. The film wins on so many levels.
The only flaw for me, and sorry to his fans but Sidharth Malhotra's performances was the only thing that wasn't 10/10. He still hasn't hit the sweet spot with me in terms of his acting as yet. But I think he's got it in him. Good effort but he didn't shine.
Alia Bhatt's performance is underrated as hell. Maybe because she had Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi the same year, but the scene when she talks about her parents: OH MY GOD tears every time. Her performance is just so pitch perfect, you can learn so much about acting just by watching her perform in this film.
Rishi Kapoor was incredible, but I do think his performance was overhyped and slightly due to the prosthetics, it makes people think the performance is more than what it actually is.
Rajat Kapoor is so good. His character has the least sheen to it but he nails it. He's a director himself so he knows how to give exactly what is needed.
Ratna Pathak Shah Ji. OMFG. Queen. I can't find the words to aptly praise this woman, such a talent. She deserved more recognition for it.
Fawad Khan. DROOL. Amazing performance. I related to his character quite a bit, so it was nice for him to do it full justice.
The music was not my favourite, but it done it's job. I loved all the side characters too, including the scene with the plumber.
I watch the film every few months when I need to cry or get inspired. I can't wait to see his next film, it might do for Ananya Panday what Highway did for Alia.
Amazing movie with brilliant acting and execution!

Yea ! Ive watched a bunch of interviews as well ! Jealous bunch who whine that they are nationalistic as they didnt go out of the country for work - sorry no one wanted you 😂
however 4 years on who wouldnt be ... the man hasnt worked much , makes money , fandom intact, gives a damm about social media... not everyone can afford such luxuries !!
Alia was a miscast imo. They should have taken a sexy siren instead of her.

She's a miscast in every movie👎🏼
Why are you so obsessed with offended by her?
🤓
I just don't find anything suitable in her to be a top actress. She's so average in all respects. I feel her career has been manufactured and curated, as her stardom. She's got everything on a platter despite being so average. She hurts my sensibilities.
