So Ravana is not from Srilanka
And all Indians are dravidians then?
Why doesn’t he play the role of Taimur? I am sure he and his fans would relish that

Aur usne tatti kar di thi. He was bad. :(
Vikram did the same role in the Tamil version, and from what I heard, not saw, he was good.
is this based on ramayana? Even the name of the villain is lankesh. If so then i'll pass 😆 I am tired of ravan being portrayed as the ultimate bad guy.. And hard to be excited about these ultra-high budget epics that are praised to the skies at the outset. Look how saaho turned out 👎🏼
Is it Hindi film or bi lingual ?
OMG Thank you for this.🤗 I knew about Manu Story but the Iskhvaku and the descendants story . This is all new knowledge for me. This shows that many people don't know the actual truth behind all this history which includes me also. Everything you wrote enlightened me .About Kubera I read about it.😃Originally posted by: Ashley.Tisdale
THIS IS SUPER LONG BUT WORTH THE READ.
Mercurial Medusa has already stated the imp points, I'll just go a notch deeper to clear this to show the movement of the two clans. And I am doing this coz I love our history 😆
Firstly there is no Aryan-Dravidian. That was all BS served to us by historians and the West ideology for them to appear superior. If anything there has been movement out of Bharat Khanda due to clash of ideologies or separation of population due to tectonic plate movement. This is what I feel because I've read various texts, predominantly Zoroastrian, Nordic etc. I can link each and every thing to India.
We've all originated from Brahmaji, it could be Manu, Prajapati, Manasputra etc. So its all gonna lead back to him.
There were three clans, one of Ikshvaku, one of Nimi and the other of Rishi Pulastya. Lets talk about Ikshvaku first but to understand the details I am gonna talk about his father first..
Shraddhadeva Manu also known as Satyavrata or (commonly) Vaivasvata Manu is the current Manu. Manu is known as the first man and is actually a title given to the ruler. In one DAY or KALPA of Brahmaji, there are 14 Manvantaras. Each is headed by a single Manu. We are currently in the 7th Manvantara. Thus Vaivasvata Manu is the 7th Manu.
Now Vaivasvata Manu's kingdom was situated in the Southern regions of India called the Dravida Kingdom. V.Manu (shortening his name) was warned by Matsya Avatar of Vishnu about the Great Flood. He built a boat which carried his family and the saptarishis (these too change every Manvantara). The Matsya Avatar guided them to the top of the Malaya Mountains. This is said to be in modern day Mangalore. After the Deluge, Manu's family and the seven sages repopulated the Earth. Thats why everyone had 100s of children. Both Suryavanshi and Chandravanshi dynasties came from V.Manu, but I don't want to confuse you right now.
Iskhvaku was one of the 10 sons of V.Manu who founded the Ikshvaku Dynasty. They were known as Suryavanshis since Ikshvaku's grandfather was Surya. Lord Ram belonged to this dynasty. The kingdom was Kosala Kingdom, its capital was Ayodhya. Lord Ram's lineage also called themselves Raghuvanshis after King Raghu, Ramji's great grandfather.
Next is Nimi, son of Ikshvaku. He established and founded the kingdom of Videha, commonly known as Mithila. Raja Janaka belonged to this dynasty. His adopted daughter Sita Maa along with the other three princesses were married off to Lord Rama and his brothers respectively.
Finally we come to Raavana. His father was Vishrava, grandfather was Rishi Pulastya and his great-grandfather was Brahmaji. Vishrava earned his powers through severe tapasya. Saptarishi Bharadwaja even married his daughter Ilavida to Vishrava because he was very impressed. From this union was born Kubera, the king of wealth.
Stories of Vishrava's power spread everywhere. Sumali was one of the founders of Lanka and a Daitya/Asura. He heard these tales and decided to get his daughter Kaikesi married to Vishrava. Her parents orchestrated the entire thing so that Vishrava would fall in love with Kaikesi. From this second marriage came 4 children: Ravana, Vibhishana, Kumbakarna and Shurpanakha. But because of the kids' asura genes they started behaving demonically. Vishrava returned to his first wife shortly after witnessing this.
Raavana was said to have been born in Bisrakh, a village in Uttar Pradesh. He seemed to have lived his childhood in Bisrakh and acquired Lanka later. Kubera was the original ruler of Lanka. The Pushpaka Viman, the gold with which the kingdom and all the riches that Lanka had were given originally to Kubera after his penance. Raavana drove him away and seized Lanka which he ruled this his death.
So actually Raavana was born not far from Ayodhya! But yes, he was huger in size due to his asura genes and lifestyle.
Coming to your question of the Vanvas, Raavana was granted a boon from Brahmadev that only a human could kill him. For that Vishnuji took a human avatar who had no ideas about his powers. Also Ramaji had already reached Panchvati in the 13th year of his banishment and they had a year to get back to Ayodhya. Anywhere up North would've taken more time.
So he had to move South to kill Raavana. This was done first by the 14 year banishment from Keikeyi. Then Lord Rama went to Chitrakoot and lived there but they needed to go more Sout to get closer to Lanka. This was triggered when Bharat arrived at Chitrakoot to take back his brother. Lord Rama knew that Bharat could come again to convince him to come back to Ayodhya. Also Chitrakoot had many Rishis doing tapasya and Lord Rama did not want that to be disrupted coz of him. Thus they left Chitrakoot.
Lord Rama and Lakshmana went on killing more and more asuras, daityas and daanavas they came across. These creatures had actually terrorised the Rishis and even killed many. Finally when they reached Panchvati and met Jatayu they chose to stay there for the last year of their Vanvas. The rest of the story is what you already know. 😊
And everything now in the epic makes sense now. Also I heard Sita being Ravana's bio daughter who got to know that she would be reason for his destruction after birth , so buried her in the ground. Is it also folklore ?
Had it been a South indian directing it, then Vikram or Jnr NTR would have been best choices for Ravana 's role esp VikramAur usne tatti kar di thi. He was bad. :(
Vikram did the same role in the Tamil version, and from what I heard, not saw, he was good.
