The film overall was good. Not the greatest, but good. Since I had already read the book, I knew what to expect. But since this was the Bollywood adaptation of it, I was looking forward to see what new elements they added to it. Some of them I liked it, others not so much.

The good things I liked: the setting (gorgeous!), the music (a bit too soothing for my tastes, but Main Tumhara has my heart), and the acting (Sushant!).

The not so good things: the editing (some hard to hear dialogues, abrupt transitions, the whole Paris sequence), the screenplay (the second half being rushed so much made it seem like a lot of things could have been taken out in the first half), Saif's character (he was an absolute essential character in the book, and in the movie, he was completely underutilized and come out as nothing but a prick. The horrible acting didn't help either).

It was absolutely impossible for me not to latch onto scenes and dialogues that reflected upon what happened to Sushant.

A few that I treasure the most are: Manny at the cancer group saying, "I'm a fighter, and I fought well", Manny explaining to Kizie's father how he has big dreams, but no longer has the desire to make them come true, the absolute ending wherein we become a true character of the movie. Manny's friends watch his film post his demise, and we watch Sushant's post his.

There are so many uncanny moments in the film, and it is bizarre, and strange, and just makes you wonder as to HOW this film came to be Sushant's last. The lines between real and reel were blurred so much, at times I wasn't sure as to whose story I was following. I knew I was watching Manny, but there undoubtedly moments when Sushant slipped through. A ridiculous notion really since the film was completed long ago, but don't know how else to make reason with it.

I won't remember Dil Bechara for being an adaptation of a book, or for the tragic love story between Kizie and Manny. I don't know if that's a good thing, or bad. All I know is that I'll remember it for Sushant Singh Rajput, and how beautifully, the film summarized him.

Indeed, rishta raha bas rait ka.

The only solace I can get is in knowing the fact that we're all star dust. Hoping that we meet again in the darkest of nights, shining so bright. ❤️

I so agree and So beautifully written! ❤️

Sahil is so so good in that scene and Sushant's acting through his silence and his eyes. ❤️

I just finished the entire movie now, after a lot of breaks in between. How I wish it wasn't this way.

I want to watch it but a big part of me wants to save this one for the future, so that there is always one performance left to watch. Glad that it is getting good reviews.

Am I the only one who LOVED the film?

It had me engaged from start till the end. Sanjana as Kizzie and Sushant as Manny were beautiful in their roles.. the music kept the film upbeat (and not dull)

I liked that the film was to the point. Not too long, not too short. It was not melodramatic, and all heart.

The characters (only a few) - Kizzie, Manny, Kizzie’s parents, Manny’s friend.. all fulfilled their roles well and were believable and had me invested in the characters.

If I had to critique one thing about the film, maybe it would be the editing. Some of the scenes seemed to cut off abruptly and could have had better transitions. And one more- Saif Ali Khan’s character (which did not have a proper narrative and Saif’s acting was bad)

Other than that, I absolutely loved the film. Sushant, you will be missed. There couldn’t have been a better tribute to him because this film brought out the essence of you.. your sincerity, your endearing personality & smile. Rest in peace, you star! ❤️

Is it just me who cannot get enough of the sound track? ARR’s music has uplifted the movie to another level I must say...It made up for the botchy editing and the other minor complaints I had of the screen play....He is once again the main lead of a movie he has worked for....👏

Yet to watch the second half of the movie...Will probably watch it tonight...Though I think I am not ready to say my final goodbyes yet! :(

Absolutely . The songs fit in and pull up the film beautifully.

I give this movie a 5/5 just for 2 people: Sushant Singh Rajput and A.R. Rahman. Now excuse me while I let my tears flow.

What would you have given it honestly if SSR was alive? I know you liked his acting, but imagine if he was alive? Then what?

Have to mention Mr.Chabra...For a first timer his eye for the detail is praiseworthy......Also the actors played their part really well...Manny’s friend played that one eye blind part in the beginning and both the eyes blind part later so well...He is my favorite character after Manny...❤️

Completely agree! The songs are gems ❤ Plus they blend with the narrative well. Love Main Tumhara especially - it's gonna haunt me for long.
