Swan Songs are difficult to review!
Honestly, in the past 9 years in IF, I had never cared to come to this forum nor talk about things that could have mattered. But, the demise of Sushant made me feel differently. I needed a space to talk about his work and keep the conversation alive.
His swan song :Dil Bechara is uncanny and eerily ironical! The movie 🎥 wasn’t the extraordinary gem as a story in the first place. The original book 📖 was beautiful, the Hollywood narrative was good too, and this movie was on the pattern of the predecessors! Emotional, touching and of course this tragedy made it difficult to watch. It’s like the ultimate artist signing off his work with his ultimate meta signature. When Manny stood in the rain and talked about how nothing excites him anymore, nothing rings a bell, I felt like he was pouring his heart out.
A very strange feeling engulfed me while watching him. What if the artist was destined to create his ultimate reality in this movie. It’s the pinnacle of the artistic expression -though not his choice but it becomes one.... where boundaries of reality and fiction blur!!!
Each and every emotion was beautifully portrayed. The film had flaws but if we can forgive deadbeats which have no logic, it seems forgivable too. The music is the best thing that could happen to the movie, it suited perfectly and reminded us that great work is still not given importance in this suffocating industry.
The movie is nothing extraordinary in storytelling but slowly grows on you.... Kizzie was okay, natural!
In totality, a movie that should be celebrated and remembered throughout!
Will miss you Sushant, you had great cinema and talent still left to be explored. This wasn’t your best work but wasn’t bad either. I would still remember you in Sonchiriya perched atop the ravines mulling over how life could have been different!
After smashing debut garning 90+million views on first day people have turned their back to Dil Bechara. Content didn't strike with audience. IMDb ratings and engagements are poor after first 3 days.
May be would have flopped theatrically. We have disappointed sushant yet again.
How are people in USA watching ???
A very below average movie with average performances and excellent Music. The only mitigating factor is that this was Sushant’s last episode at acting as far as the audience is concerned.Otherwise an easily forgettable affair!
This smile right there has my heart ❤️

I still don’t have the heart to watch it, I just can’t 💔 I keep seeing it being advertised for it’s first television premiere and even that is hard to watch. 😭
I feel like if I don’t watch it now and save it for the future, then there will always be something of Sushant that I know I can look forward to and won’t ever forget him as I her busy with life :(
Bollywood movies are below average mostly. And the book "Fault in our stars" was nothing extraordinary either.Originally posted by: Aanandaa
