yes it was....and I don't even know how it landed up at the Oscars....KKKG was better than it...although I enjoyed watching it and liked it but it was no better than a Kjo movie.

It was a super cheesy movie, entertaining but like a one time watch. There's def some Kjo films that are more entertaining + better to watch

Lol I liked the lead actress 🥱

As for movie... just a "time pass" movie I think🤔

IDK KJo movies made my childhood bit more enjoyable so I am not gonna comment on that🤣

I can't believe I like a movie where the male lead was a douche, bully like Rahul Khanna & he 'loved' Anjali just when she wore saree only🤢

If BW and Kjo fans are calling it cheesy, then it must be really cheesy!

Rom Com is typically not a high browed genre. From what I remember most critics did point out story wise there was nothing original about Crazy Rich Asian. Everyone praised it because its significance as first of its kind for Hollywood. It is okay that it's not a great film. There needs to be a space in hollywood for Asian not so great films among the countless white not so great films.

As for Crazy rich asian and Kjo, yeah!! K3G especially. I never thought about it, but both are glamour obsessed and deal with similar subjects regarding class and relationship. I do think Crazy Rich Asian only did it much, much, much, much, much better. First Kjo is a terrible director and storyteller. Everything is superficial, lacks depth and nothing makes sense. His messages in movies are never clear. In KKHH the most important line is how you live once, love once, marry once and die once. Except that man married twice. Nothing felt real about either of his loves. In K3G the tagline is it's all about loving your parents. Except at no point the movie's message was that. The whole story revolved around how both of the sons disobeyed their parent. One left for a girl and other disobeyed for his brother. But hang picture of your parents on the wall and apparently its all good! There are scenes in CRA that are subtle yet have much more depth, the message is also on point. Astrid's story in the movie is great. Rachel and Eleanor's mother in law and daughter in law fight is realistic, subtle, had layers. It was explored. Amitabh disliked Kajol so much that he disowned his beloved son. Then he accepted her years later, suddenly. Why? He had one lecture from Jaya? Was there anything in Jaya's speech that dealt why he changed his stance toward Kajol. No. The only journey that made sense in the whole movie is Jaya's journey to realizing her husband is a flawed pati and not parmeshwar.

It was a good movie but I prefer K3G and KKHH.

It was a unique combination of Ekta's shows and KJo's films🤣

After watching the movie, I was like 'what did I just see'?😆

I genuinely enjoyed the film a lot, it was different to what we usually see in Hollywood films. Yeah it might remind you of KJo but such representation, culture, fun and storyline wasn't seen in Hollywood for a while

Bold: LMAO, precisely.

Also all this hype over "representation"-- doesn't it actually show Asians as shallow, money-obsessed, tyrannical and backward (as compared to the more "liberal" Americanized Asians)?
