Dabangg 3 First Monday Business

Dabanng 3 dropped almost 60% on Monday as it collected 9.25 crore nett. This has taken the four day numbers to 82 crore nett plus and its looking a 105-110 crore nett first week depending on the jump it gets on Wednesday. The film should have been looking at coming back up towards its day one number on Wednesday but that looks tough now..

The film saw a huge drop in Punjab and Delhi (never really got going due to major protesting) as the film had many of those elements which are there in regular South films which audiences in these parts have never taken to. The holds in other places are better than Punjab and Delhi but still more or less all circuits have a 50% plus fall..

The film has not worked but even still if the film it had a normal weekend the business of the film could have been AVERAGE with a Monday drop like this but now even AVERAGE business looks tough unless it somehow sustains from here. The first four day business of the film is as follows.

Friday - 22,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 22,00,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 28,50,00,000 apprx

Monday - 9,25,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 82,25,00,000 apprx

Top Mondays 2019 - Dabangg 3 Seventh

Dabangg 3 has not been liked and collections have come down heavily on Monday but it still has the 7th highest Monday this year and his better than films like Bharat, Mission Mangal, Kesari and Gully Boy. This is not reflective of a decent Dabangg 3 Monday but more reflective how even successful films struggle to get initials as you are always going to drop from the Friday number so the the higher Friday then it gives the potential of a higher Monday.

Housefull 4 dominates the Monday numbers and is the third highest Monday of all time behind Bahubali - The Conclusion and Tiger Zinda Hai. There are six films with 10 crore nett plus Mondays and Dabangg 3 should have really joined this list if it was going to have a chance to sustain well at the box office.

The Monday numbers of Dabangg 3 are better than Bharat but that film came of an extended holiday weekend and already had 140 crore nett on the board before Monday. Dabanng 3 had just 73 crore nett which is half before the Monday. The top fifteen Monday collections of 2019 so far are as follows.

1. Housefull 4 - 34,42,00,000 (Holiday)

2. War - 20,18,00,000 (Partial Holiday)

3. Kabir Singh - 17,05,00,000

4. Saaho (Hindi) - 13,78,00,000 (Holiday)

5. Uri: The Surgical Strike - 10,55,00,000

6. Total Dhamaal - 10,04,00,000

7. Dabangg 3 - 9,25,00,000 apprx

8. Bharat - 8,72,00,000

9. Gully Boy - 8,41,00,000

10. Mission Mangal - 8,16,00,000

11. Kesari - 7,94,00,000

12. Bala - 7,80,00,000

13. Luka Chuppi - 7,75,00,000 (Holiday)

14. Chhichhore - 7,70,00,000

15. Dream Girl - 7,19,00,000

Arbaaz had 6 years to develop the screenplay of Dabbang 3. He knew D3 would rock it if the script were even half decent. The fact that he still botched up shows just how dumb he is.

Salman had written Chandramukhi and Veer prior to this. How does anyone with sensibility trust Salman as a co-writer? They could have hired anyone to write the script. Why were Prabhu Deva and Salman writing the screenplay?

Knowing how dumb Salman is, he'll simply blame the protests for D3's failure.

It's still not late for Salman to re-adapt. There are those rumored projects with ALR and Farhan. He should do those films. Then, there's Tiger 3, which Kabir should direct.

Inshallah's fiasco will hurt Salman the most. He let go of a genuinely good movie. Say what you want, Bhansali doesn't make half-baked cookies. Inshallah would have been much, much better than the likes of D3 or Radhe. If he has any brains, he'll either shelve Radhe, or at least replace Prabhu Deva.

I believe Salman saw that people are crazy about superhero origin stories. He thought Dabangg is a superhero so let us have an origin story.

Bollywood idiots can't think much beyond love revenge of sorts.

The whole salman khan family is talentless. Arbazz and sohail got no idea what the audience wants. They get luck here and there. Dabangg2 was horrible but salman was so popular that people ate the crap.

The ground reports are worst. Critics are being very kind to the film.

Dabangg 3 Tuesday Early Estimates

Wednesday 25 December 2019 01.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network

Dabangg 3 is looking to collect 9-9.50 crore nett which is the same range as Monday. There was a drop in the morning and afternoon collections but the film gained in the evening as its a holiday tomorrow but the film should really have collected more at an all India level.

The other main releases playing have made gains and its only Dabangg 3 which has not really gone up though those are all small filmw which dont have the reach of a Dabangg 3. The film has now collected around 91.50 crore nett and will top the 100 crore nett mark tomorrow though it will be interesting to see how much growth there is for the film.

It should be going up 50-70% as its a national holiday but Xmas period is very much for the bigger cities and multiplexes and these areas have not really taken to the film so it will not be a surprise if the growth is not the type which is expected from a national holiday.

The film is heading for a 105-110 crore nett first week but a a jump towards the higher end of the above range will take it comfortably past the 100 crore nett mark.

You are expecting too much from Arbaaz 😆 Baring Dabangg , Salman's best movies have always come when he was worked in movies where his family werent involved in any way . Inshallah would have been a bigger disaster with Alia opposte Salman

Yeah, maybe I am. Because Salman's most memorable character happens to be Chulbul Pandey, so one would at least presume that they'd be careful with it.

Basically, Dabbang 3 wrote itself with the stellar prequel they had in hand. They only had to work on the sequel aspect. But alas.

It's true. Salman's family has always led to his downfall. Whether it was breaking his hit streak in 97-99 with Hello Brother, or the blockbuster streak with Jai Ho.

Inshallah would have been fine if Salman was playing a guy in his 40s falling for a woman in her early 20s. And I suspect that was what Bhansali intended. Bhansali isn't stupid. He wouldn't make these blunders. Salman's stupid "creative inputs" obviously made Bhansali uncomfortable, which is why he shelved it.

Radhe is a remake of Outlaws, which is a good action thriller. But with Prabhu Deva directing it, there's no hope. Salman's biggest disappointments have come when he's worked with the likes of Sohail, Remo, and Prabhu Deva this decade. No wonder.

He should work with newer directors, but he's too stubborn and rigid to do so. And he should stop interfering in projects. It worked once in Dabbang. It doesn't mean it will work everytime. It didn't in Jai Ho, Tubelight, Race 3, and Dabbang 3.

Hope he does those ALR and Farhan projects. He needs to move away from masala movies. Action dramas/thrillers are fine, but masala movies only work for Rohit these days. Wonder why they just didn't get Rohit on board for D3.

If Salman's ego allows, Veteran is a movie that suits him and has good source material. But in Veteran, the lead character takes a beating of a lifetime and plays a daring, but ordinary cop. Not sure if Salman's ego will allow him to leave his bhai-giri.

Plus, Salman looks too stiff these days. He aced it in Bharat because of how the story and the character evolved. There's still a good actor in there. But he's killing the remnants of his stardom himself.

Dilwale v Dabangg 3 Five Day Comparison

Wednesday 25 December 2019 12.30 ISTBox Office India Trade Network

Twitter logo link

The business of Dabangg 3 has pretty gone much the way of Dilwale till now which was an Xmas release four years back. Dabanng 3 faced issues over the weekend in terms cinemas unable to screen the film due to external issues and it was a similar case with Dilwale though to a lesser level and it was not a solo release with a clash against Bajirao Mastaani.

The daily comparison sees Dabangg 3 have a ten crore lead over the first five days which suggests it should beat the lifetime numbers of Dilwale but the drops are bigger for Dabangg 3 from the weekend. Also Dilwale was a tighter release due to the clash with 3150 screens while Dabangg 3 (Hindi) has been released on 4550 screens.

The first week of Dabangg 3 will easily be ahead of Dilwae as the big national holiday for Dilwale fell on the second Friday which meant it had decent second week collections of 31 crore nett which Dabangg 3 is unlikely to match. The first five day comparison of Dilwale (2015) and Dabangg 3 is as follows.

Friday

Dilwale - 20,37,00,000

Dabangg 3 - 22,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday

Dilwale - 19,56,00,000

Dabangg 3 - 22,00,00,000 apprx

Sunday

Dilwale - 23,35,00,000

Dabangg 3 - 28,50,00,000 apprx

Monday

Dilwale - 9.35,00,000

Dabangg 3 - 9,25,00,000 apprx

Tuesday

Dilwale - 8,18,00,000

Dabangg 3 - 9,25,00,000 apprx

TOTAL (5 days)

Dilwale - 80,81,00,000

Dabangg 3 - 91,50,00,000
