Student Of The Year 2 Does Average Business In First Week

Student of The Year 2 recorded average first week collections of around 55 crore nett. The film should have done better but its not too bad especially considering the reports were not encouraging. The film had a drop on Monday but has managed to stay afloat after that to give it a chance going into week two.

Student of The Year 2 can be an AVERAGE fare at best but for that it still needs to some work and continue this middling run. It cannot afford to drop 60-70% from the Thursday. Ideally it should have done enough business in week one to be AVERAGE and then week two is to go higher but thats not the case here.

Its generally average business in most of the circuits with probably Nizam / Andhra lagging due to Ramadan and a big Telugu release. Tiger Shroff films do outperform in this circuit but this time it has not done well. The daily first week collections of Student Of The Year are as follows.

Friday - 11,75,00,000 apprx

Saturday 13,50,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 12,50,00,000 apprx

Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx

Tuesday - 4,75,00,000 apprx

Wednesday - 4,00,00,000 apprx

LOL you used the "perception is reality" card on Manikarnika threads too didn't ya?! I fully understand how that works. Well in reality, 99% of fans are just casual and they don't give flying F about these "hits or flops". If they like the movie = "hit" and vice versa for not liking = "flops". This tracking of data is more for OUR forum netizens' BO debate topics since we clearly got a bit of time to spare in our daily lives.

Only LEGITIMATE trade source to call it a FLOP is Komal Nahta (his verdicts were always strict, he called your Manikarnika a big flop too if ya care). Other influential trades like Taran, BOI, Bollywood Hungama, KOIMOI and Joginder Tuteja etc have all their juries out still - treading on AVERAGE. Now let the forum narratives form how they may.

The Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria film, Student of the Year 2, has made Rs 57.90 crore at the box-office in its first week. However, it losses the box-office battle with Baaghi and Baaghi 2.

Despite a decent start at the box-office, Punit Malhotra-directed Student of the Year 2, which stars Tiger Shroff in the lead, has started to slow down with its box-office collection. The film received mixed reviews from critics after it theatres last week and fans too weren’t impressed with the film. After completing its first week in theatres, Student of the Year 2 has collected Rs 57.90 crore at the box-office.

While SOTY 2 opened to Rs 12.06 crore on its opening day, it went on to earn Rs 14.02 crore on day two and Rs 12.75 crore on day 3, taking its opening weekend box-office numbers to Rs 38.83 crore. However, collections fell during the week with Rs 5.52 crore on Monday, Rs 5.02 crore on Tuesday, Rs 4.51 crore on Wednesday and Rs 4.02 crore on Thursday. As one can see, the collections have continued to deteriorate every single day.

Now, with two new films in theatres, including Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De with Rakul Preet and Tabu and Keanu Reeves starrer John Wick 3. These are bound to attract the movie going audience and hamper the box-office numbers of SOTY2 in the coming days.

Meanwhile, SOTY2 has even failed to beat Tiger Shroff’s previous hits like Baaghi and Baaghi 2. While Baaghi had made Rs 59.72 in its opening week, Baaghi 2 made twice as much in its first week of release with Rs 112.85 crore at the box-office.

Meanwhile, SOTY 2 also had two debutants in Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria. While critics have given mixed reviews to the film, Ananya Panday in specific was lauded by critics and fans alike. Chunky Panday’s daughter, who is also signed to play a pivotal role in the upcoming film, Pati Patni Aur Woh, with Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar, displayed quite the spunk and energy in her debut film.

It’ll be interesting to see if Student of the Year 2 is able to beat the lifetime box-office record of the original Student of the Year (2012) film which introduced Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra in Bollywood. SOTY had made Rs 70 crore according to Bollywood Hungama. So, SOTY2 still has to earn more than Rs 12 crore to overtake the original.
